@RBReich We have a 10th Amendment. Let’s just get back to using it. The less power the federal government has, the less people will try to bend it to protect themselves or hinder their opponents.
@dailydirtnap I’m not sure how Singapore as a small city state compares in this analogy. Pinochet seemed innocuous when put in power and then surprised everyone. Nobody is truly safe in that kind of situation. You never know when your “friends” will come to check your loyalty.
@theadelites Welcome to the NFL, where a catch is determined at the quantum scale after five minutes of review and a consultation with Talmudic scholars. At least the clock doesnt keep running, though.
@EWErickson Citizenship is a benefit. A million dollars is a benefit. If my mom steals a million dollars from her company and puts it in a trust fund for me at birth, I don’t get to keep it. Nowhere does the law let you profit from crime. This is the argument they should have made.
@dailydirtnap Japan wrecked their currency and endangered their elderly to solve a non-problem. There’s no reason to have inflation if your population is shrinking. They should have just taken the win.
@KobeissiLetter And if nobody pays? What can Iran do? If they sink a ship, it’s an act of war. They get new sanctions and Trump lets Netanyahu off the chain to turn Tehran into Gaza. Everyone hates Israel now anyway, so what would they have to lose?
@SciGuySpace Isn’t that basically a dongle to connect spacecraft with different receptacles? Sounds like something Apple could build. Might be just as expensive, but it would be faster.
@DJSnM The way to get stupidly rich in the age of high relativistic space travel is to put money in low-risk investments and take a few long trips. Time dilation plus compounding returns. Easy-peasy.
@hankgreen@DJSnM Why do I get the feeling that a chip implanted in your hand is going to be the proposed solution for all of these nagging tech problems?
