@chillimac63@mark1984toon@SuperLeague@SkySports 2️⃣ Except for Covid and early 2024, you couldn't record in the past. Only 2 matches were on TV and the rest couldn't be watched or recorded. All the matches were on TV in early 2024 but this was temporary until Sky Sports+ started working. We're better off than in the past.
@chillimac63@mark1984toon@SuperLeague@SkySports I don't think this is fair. 1️⃣ If you miss a match because you're out you can still watch it later by subscribing to SL+. IIRC the RFL wanted it that way, to grow SL+, which will improve the deal in the long run by giving us an alternative option when negotiating with Sky. 1/2
@tylershez@brownliberite Mrs Thatcher is the one who insisted that the British fishing industry must be free to sell their quotas to other countries, which they immediately did. This problem was entirely created by the Tories.
Also, Brits don't like British fish as the species have changed.
@rodrig39386@timreay@brownliberite Yes, and what the UK has been catching is lots of shellfish, which is overwhelming exported to the EU because Brits don't like it. Though I saw a report this week saying that warm-water octopus is now eating all the shellfish in the southwest!
@brownliberite@timreay No, the overfishing would have been even worse without the European Commission taking a more long-term view. Canada's cod fishery collapsed much harder and faster, because a single country's government found it harder to stand up to the fishing lobby's money and votes.
@bloodline_2k19@paokr0hng@esc_asia Your profile says that you're in the Philippines. It's hard to find Filipino analogies because the TV market there is so chaotic, especially since ABS-CBN lost their licence. But the closest thing I can compare ENA to is SolarFlix. People have heard of it, but very low ratings.
@bloodline_2k19@paokr0hng@esc_asia No. If you want US analogies, tvN and JTBC are like HBO or TNT (popular cable networks). ENA is more like AMC, BET or Bravo (less popular cable networks).
Roku, Hulu, and Peacock are all streaming services, not TV channels, so they're a different category.
@jonnoaldo@NicholasLissack@shanebrown74@WestMidRailway That's true, but the only possible Railcard for Mr Lissack is Young Persons Railcard and he might have aged out or finished his course of study (the latter seems quite likely since it expired in early June).
@groetjesnar All TV audiences are drastically declining in all developed countries. It is looking incredibly bad for the EBU, but that's because Big Tech is using its monopolies to crush public broadcasting, not because of anything to do with the Song Contest.
@dvdpeters@HarryDibbs_ He's Welsh, that's a clerical collar not a tie, he's not merely a gentleman but a baron, and you must be the first person ever to talk about his moustache rather than his beard (which has been longer than in this photo). 😂
But most importantly, his confidence is in Christ.
@ryusparx@nahyotalk The O2 is surrounded by the Thames on 3 sides so space is at a premium. Literally, it costs a lot of money to rent there because of the river views. It won't have been easy for JYPE to find a nearby space to rent for 3 days without paying an absolute fortune.
@Lil_Peash@nahyotalk The O2 is surrounded by water on 3 sides, and the surrounding streets have great river views so worth a fortune as flats/offices. TBH they did well to find a space so close.
@Sheeees69113029@Borbo03 For over a decade, it was a French protectorate. The French desperately hoped it would join France, but it voted overwhelmingly to join the Federal Republic of Germany.
@TrylineUK According to League Express, this year's Cup Final made more money than last year's, despite selling fewer tickets.
The danger though is that putting prices up means only pensioners can afford to go, which is bad for the game in the next generation.
@angcathalex The great preachers of earlier generations—Chrysostom, Simeon, Spurgeon, Stott—all preached sermons much longer than 10 minutes. Why would we think we can squeeze a quart into a pint pot when they couldn't?
@angcathalex Writing a good short sermon is actually much harder than writing a long one, because you still need to expound the passage. If you push too hard for short sermons, then you're going to end up with people not getting fed at all. "Sermonettes produce Christianettes".
