Posting another tiktok because this video made me start researching intrusive sexual thoughts that may come with #SOWK654661681#TikTok https://t.co/pwpazI5j7T
@Marisa_SUSW@professoranne The intrusive sexual thoughts would be such a struggle to live with. I had no idea how common it was for people with OCD to worry about being sexually attracted to children.
@Nicoleepaulinoo@professoranne When I was younger I didn’t know what OCD was. I focused on the more visible symptoms and never considered the mental aspects. I think my experiences relate to what many still think and believe. We have to start providing better education for mental health! #SOWK654661681
#SOWK654661681 I think tiktok is such a great tool in helping normalize the discussion of mental health. Also a great way to help address the endless misconceptions about diagnoses such as OCD @professoranne
@professoranne Oh absolutely! Unfortunately many children are unable to distinguish what is real vs fake on the internet. For example last year it became a “trend” for people to pretend they had tics because they saw others become famous on tiktok for openly addressing their diagnoses
@natlearnsalot@professoranne I can see the increase in anxiety related to the pandemic and distance learning specifically within my internship. A lot more children have been struggling with anxiety. I personally do not have OCD, and have not had a client with OCD so I cannot provide any additional insight.
#Susocialwork It is extremely frustrating to see hate crimes continuously happening in the world and see people sum up a horrific event as a “bad day” when is enough enough
This chart is a PERFECT way to break down each of these terms. Equality is not always the answer and some people do not understand that. #SUSocialWork#socialjustice#Equity4Life @HeatherDiehl8
if and when someone asks for help don’t question their reasoning. mental health impacts every person differently and needs to be treated as such #Susocialwork
@SWsoldierKD_SU absolutely it is important to talk about racism and how/why it is so prevalent in today’s society. it’s all about educating yourself on the problems.
@sydthesocworker @lin_zelaya yes an absolute incredible idea! i often think about the parking deck for the old hospital and if that would be suitable to convert into public housing for the homeless.
A tiny home neighborhood dedicated to aiding the homeless population this is an incredible project that will absolutely help numerous people throughout their crises.i think something like this in the hagerstown area would be super beneficial #Susocialwork https://t.co/xSAYosOKTD
@Sjsalisbury2 i couldn’t agree more!! i never realized how detrimental labeling is until i saw a small boy being scolded for wanting a “girl” toy. he preferred a baby doll over a truck and the parent said “you are a boy you will play with boy things”
@AshleyH20478948 working with abused and neglected children this year have definitely highlighted the importance of understanding childhood trauma on all levels!
@DanielleSUSOWK i absolutely agree! this stigma is definitely a barrier to people in need seeking services. i hope one day when people hear i’m a “social worker” they think i’m here for them
