30 years ago, I was the little boy holding a soccer ball.
Today, I’m holding my son, who shares the same love for the beautiful game. ⚽️
Soccer has given me much more than wins and losses. It has been about dreams, growth, friendships, and memories that span generations.
Tomorrow, I’ll be cheering proudly for Team Canada and celebrating a sport that inspires so many young people to dream big. Go Canada Go! 🇨🇦⚽️
Councillors met with the @SouthGranville BIA Monday to tour recent city-funded improvements, including upgraded plaza at Granville & W. 14th; new bus bulbs and expanded sidewalks on Granville; and new public seating outside some of the ‘hood’s most popular cafés and restaurants.
Today is a great day to check out the Granville Pedestrian Zone! ☀️ Five blocks and five themes of fun from West Georgia to Davie along Granville Street in downtown Vancouver. I take you on a walk and talk below 👇🏻
Great meeting with the Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) @VanConstruction. The construction industry is vital to Vancouver—creating jobs, delivering housing, and building the infrastructure our growing city needs.
We discussed the importance of policy consistency, embracing innovative and high-tech construction methods, and supporting a skilled workforce to help the industry overcome challenges and boost productivity.
Thank you to the VRCA team for the productive Roundtable. #VanPoli #Construction #Housing
Vancouver has made strong progress on 3331 policy, improving a permitting system once slowed by delays, red tape & unnecessary costs. Since 2022:
✅ 92% of simple renovation permits are now approved <3 days (vs 2 months)
✅ Detached home permits are 36% faster, & laneway homes are 50% faster
✅ Multi-family & mid-rise permits are 50% faster at DP stage
✅ High-rise & large-scale permits are 10% faster
✅ Commercial renovation permits are 40% faster
✅ Business licences were streamlined from 600 categories to 92; approvals in 2 days (vs 16 weeks)
✅ 90% of sprinkler permits are issued <24 hours
We also eliminated outdated studies, reduced conditions, digitized processes, & simplified requirements that added cost without improving outcomes.
More homes. More businesses. Less red tape. Less ideology. Vancouver needs pragmatism that gets things done! #vanpoli
Thank you to the residents of the amazing Champlain Heights neighbourhood for meeting our @Vote4ABC team members on the doorsteps today. @LisaDominato and I heard your priorities, particularly around supporting affordable cooperative housing.
My walk-through early Monday afternoon of the 50,000 sf Time Out Market Vancouver food hall portion of Oakridge Park mall, opening Thursday.
20 curated local offerings, 1,000 seats.
Much more to share later today on the new mall. #vancre#vanre

JUST IN... 99% of Metro Vancouver's transit bus drivers and SeaBus workers have voted in favour of strike action, #Unifor has announced.
#TransLink's CMBC employs 5,000+ of these workers.
This comes just weeks before the FIFA World Cup. #vanpoli#vanre

Great meeting with Minister of Transport Steve MacKinnon.
The Port of Vancouver is Canada's economic engine. It moves more cargo than the next five Canadian ports combined and connects this country to over 170 markets around the world. With Canada's commitment to double non-US trade, the Port is going to play an outsized role in our future.
Vancouver is ready to be the federal government's partner in unlocking every bit of that potential. We know Vancouverites support doubling non-US trade and our transportation and logistics expertise will ensure that goods and resources made in Canada have a world class Port here in Vancouver.
Grateful the Minister is ready to work with us.
It’s awesome to see so many local restauranteurs included at the upcoming @TimeOutMarket at Oakridge. Have been to these markets in Europe and they are bonafide tourist attractions- Lisbon and Porto are particularly exceptional.
Good meeting today with Minister of Public Safety Gary Anandasangaree.
We spoke about the urgent public safety challenges facing Vancouver, especially in the Downtown Eastside. There is a need for all levels of government to work together on real solutions.
From repeat violent offenders and street disorder to the pressures facing frontline responders and local businesses, cities cannot tackle these issues alone.
Vancouver is stepping up with investments in policing, community safety, and coordinated enforcement, but lasting progress requires strong partnerships between municipal, provincial, and federal governments.
Appreciate the Minister’s willingness to collaborate and focus on practical action with forward thinking that makes our communities safer for everyone.
♻️ Recycling just got a whole lot easier in Vancouver.
Councillor @LisaDominato and I were pleased to demonstrate one of the new standalone Return-It Express & GO depots now popping up in neighbourhoods across the city. These convenient drop-off centres — made possible through changes we championed at City Hall — help residents recycle quickly using the mobile app. 📱
Located at W 16th & Arbutus and at No Frills on E Hastings by Clark Drive. Give them a try! 🌎💚 @Return_It

Honoured to meet with Prime Minister Mark Carney today.
Vancouver is Canada's gateway to the Pacific. Our port moves more cargo than the next five largest Canadian ports combined.
We are hosting FIFA World Cup 2026 in just weeks. We're making the case to host Canada's new Defence, Security & Resilience Bank.
When Vancouver delivers, Canada delivers.
The priorities of Vancouverites are also national priorities; affordability, more homes built faster, safer streets, and the infrastructure a growing city needs.
I'm grateful for a Prime Minister who is ready to be a real partner on every one of them.
Together, we are going to keep building a Vancouver, and a Canada, that works for the people who call it home.
Honoured to present the City of Vancouver proclamation recognizing the 100th anniversary of Memorial South Park today.
For a century, this beloved community space has served as both a place of remembrance for those who sacrificed during the Great War and a gathering place for generations of Vancouver residents.
A true “Playground of the People,” Memorial South Park remains one of the great community spaces in South Vancouver. Here’s to the next 100 years!
Multiplex can play an important role in addressing housing shortage, but good policy should evolve based on real-world experience.
After 3 years of implementation, it’s the right time to review what’s working well & where improvements may be needed.
This motion is about supporting more housing while ensuring thoughtful, livable communities for residents and families. This motion is about listening, reviewing, and improving.
For a new policy, we try, we implement, we learn, and we refine!
Thanks for Councillors who presented and supported the motion that @PeterMeiszner and I brought forward.
Today we announced a combined $200M investment from the federal government, City of Vancouver, and TransLink for the seismic upgrade of the Cambie Street Bridge.
This vital link carries 13M vehicles a year and upgrades will keep Vancouver safe and connected for decades to come.
