John deployed twice to Iraq during his service in the Marines. Years later, after the loss of his previous pups, this Devil Dog decided to save another four-legged soul.

In Nugget (aptly named), he got a little velvet hippo, a dog whose affections and demands for cuddling sometimes outpace John's desire for them.

And he wouldn't have it any other way.
