This highlights a broader problem: we still don’t have a blockchain where you can build truly invisible, frictionless UX for mass adoption.

Great infra exists. Great UX at scale still doesn’t.

Today I want to talk about my first real pain point when building on Solana: smart contract "rent"

Calling it "rent" is misleading. On Solana it’s closer to a deposit — you can fully reclaim it at any time by closing the account.

That breaks my original idea: I was happy to pay the SOL rent for users — as long as the deposit stayed mine.

In practice, ensuring that across arbitrary DeFi protocols is far from trivial.
