@evanwickham@pastordmack Never saw that before. I love that Gen 29 scene. It made me question: what was the first kiss in the Bible? Was it Gen 29, Jacob and Rachel? I was in for a surprise. Scripture has a way of doing that.
Sat in on a lecture by Scott Callaham on reading Biblical Aramaic and Targums, etc. Daniel 7 was in the PowerPoint. He unlocked the gold mine & we all peered in.
@Joel7Richardson@burgundy202 In one parable, we are instructed to be awake, waiting, yet in another, all fall asleep, and at the shout all are woken up. Hmmm….
"He spent fully 30 minutes of the interview talking to me about why I ought to convert to Christianity."
Ben Shapiro pays tribute to John MacArthur following news of his death.
Charles Spurgeon (1834–1892)—
“I think we do not attach sufficient importance to the restoration of the Jews. We do not think enough of it. But certainly, if there is anything promised in the Bible it is this.
. . . The day shall yet come when the Jews, who were the first Apostles to the Gentiles, the first missionaries to us, who were far off, shall be gathered in again. Until that shall be, the fullness of the Church’s glory can never come. Matchless benefits to the world are bound up with the restoration of Israel; their gathering in shall be as life from the dead.”
The Islamic Republic has come to its end and is collapsing. What has begun is irreversible. The future is bright, and together we will turn the page of history. Now is the time to stand up; the time to reclaim Iran. May I be with you soon.
Every good man I've ever met had recovered his ability to love and be loved. Even more, he knew this was the source of his greatest power in the world.
Every man will only ever be known for how he loves or does not. That's it. That's your whole legacy.
@pastordmack Helpful. The only male labeled a pastor is Jesus, once by his own mouth ("I am the Good Pastor", Jn 10) and once by Peter's ("When the Chief Pastor appears", 1 Pt 5).
No one else is titled "pastor" in the NT.
In the OT, the first person named a "pastor" is Rachel (Gn29).
Tony Campolo passed away today.
He was 89 years old.
He was one of the most gifted preachers I have ever heard.
If you have a few minutes, listen to him tell the story of throwing a birthday party for a prostitute in Hawaii.
It's worth your time.
Saw Nick Cave in Paris recently at the Accor Arena and I was really struck by that song Joy where he sings “We’ve all had too much sorrow, now it the time for joy.” I was thinking to myself, yeah that’s about right.
Never got into the wrestling scene much, but a certain friend’s love for Ric Flair has made me appreciate this little clip that randomly showed up in my timeline.
