#SevereME is a haunting.
It is a horrifying presence that never leaves you, not at night or during the day.
It torments you.
Until many vanish.
First, their personalities. Then, quite often - too often - their lives.
#MECFS
I couldn't have said it better myself. My best friend posted this about me a month ago.
I'm too sick for euthanasia 🙃
By the way, I don't want it today. However, considering how progressive my illness is, it is something that needs to be prepared.
May is #ME awareness month. A reminder for everyone who is unfamiliar with the long, torturous history of this illness, first documented in 1934:
"The history of ME remains one of the worst examples of unacknowledged institutional abuse in modern times" ~ Valerie Eliot Smith 2019
It would be difficult to design a condition that causes as much suffering as #MECFS while demanding any less attention from policymakers & the general public.
I describe why in this open letter to friends & family that touches on my 6 year journey: https://t.co/VCp0AiUlg2 #pwME
