Definitely should have been a foul but you can literally see that AT was diving for the ball, and her hand slips off CC shoulder into her throat. They're all sweaty. Wasn't even remotely intentional.
Alyssa Thomas’ name has become almost synonymous with history. She shattered record after record during the regular season, and now she’s continuing her dominance on the biggest stage.
In Phoenix’s Game 4 victory over Minnesota, Thomas became the WNBA’s all-time leader in playoff double-doubles. As the Finals approach, she now has a chance to chase another milestone — Courtney Vandersloot’s single-postseason assists record.
Vandersloot set the record in 2021, recording 102 assists during Chicago’s title run — the first player ever to surpass 100 assists in a single playoff stretch. That record has stood ever since.
Thomas enters the Finals with 64 assists. Depending on how long the series goes, here’s what she’ll need to average to break Vandersloot’s mark:
✨9.5 per game over 4 games
✨7.8 per game over 5 games
✨6.5 per game over 6 games
✨5.6 per game over 7 games
With her postseason average sitting at (9.1) assists, the numbers suggest she has a strong chance — especially if this series extends beyond four games.
What makes Thomas’ run even more impressive is that this postseason she eliminated both of last year’s WNBA Finals participants on her way to the championship stage. Having already become the league’s all-time playoff double-double leader, adding the single-season playoff assist record, and winning a championship would cement this playoff run as one of the most historic in WNBA history.
The best part of Ashley reheating my nachos is that she has no idea who I am or that she's doing it. I admire the commitment. And I'm so excited for her.
Welcome to the circle, Ashley.

This is NOT a foul. Thomas legally gets to the ball and knocks the ball loose prior to any contact. The leg to leg contact is incidental once the ball is clearly loose. This was correctly judged in real time as a no call as were the subsequent technical fouls.
