@_PinkSkyz_ @I_love_snailsss for example, snakes lack the brain structure needed to experience emotions like love as we know it as humans. many pet snakes may look loving to their owners, but really they’re just attracted to their body heat and have learned they’re safe. they’re not inferior, just different.

@_PinkSkyz_ @I_love_snailsss that is indeed an assumption based on human experience. you could be right, but even human toddlers need to be taught about death. do you know for sure that baby birds understand that their siblings can die and how, and that there’s no coming back after that?

@_PinkSkyz_ @I_love_snailsss i don’t know much about bird behavior or psychology, but they could be reacting for an entirely different reason than we assume as humans. this post is pretty harmless, but there are many cases where assumptions like that could be dangerous.

@_PinkSkyz_ @I_love_snailsss acknowledging that humans and animals experience and show emotions differently is not elitist. spiders and dogs don’t experience all the same emotions. cats and dogs both wag their tails but for different feelings. so why should we expect anything else from humans and birds?

@ProfondoRobbo @EPM106 @eathedocument I think that guilt was only because of pressure. I haven’t seen it in a while so I could be wrong, but I remember her seeming pretty unconcerned about the fetus for the rest of the movie except for the sake of the prospective adopters.
