It's finally out! The first paper of my PhD thesis @NatImmunol reveals a novel role for the ER protein PERK as a metabolic hub for immunosuppressive macrophage function. Key findings of this work below! (1/n)
I am thrilled to share that our three years work is finally out @NatImmunol ! I’m so proud of my team (esp. PhD student @lnraines1) and grateful for all the help from our excellent collaborators! #macrophages#ERStress https://t.co/qhMUBP5ly8
Had the incredible opportunity to meet & talk with Erika Pearce at the OSU MII retreat this year. Not only did I hear a super interesting story about hypusine, but also how to identify poison ivy, how it mediates T cell responses, and what a pileated woodpecker looks like! 10/10
Last week, I successfully defended my thesis! I was so glad to be able to enjoy that moment surrounded by my family, friends, and past and present mentors. Thank you all so much for your support over the years! I'm energized and ready to take on everything that comes next.
The culture protecting power-based abuse and toxic lab environments needs to change. Students, postdocs, and early-stage PIs need to be empowered and supported. We need to be taken seriously, not retaliated against. “Maintaining the status quo” does nothing but drive out talent.
This really is no joke. People act like toxic environments in research is the price we have to pay for genius to succeed. But have we considered that there might be more success in positive work environments where everyone feels properly supported? /1

Our newest review on the role of the UPR in tumor and immune cells is now out! We discuss how the arms of the UPR work together or independently to promote tumorigenesis and also what might be next in UPR research @ImmunoHorizons
So incredibly honored to have been awarded one of four presentation awards at the 1st International School on Advanced Immunology! Thank you to @ImmunoSens and #iFReC for the amazing opportunity!!
@DrSTANtheMAN@CureMelanoma I also just want the world to know that I've been heavily resisting the urge to meme this into that one scene from The Shining.
Thrilled that my mentor @DrSTANtheMAN was selected as the recipient of the @CureMelanoma Career Development and Established Investigator Award! But can we also agree that the crop on this photo is absolutely amazing??
Case CCC is thrilled to announce that Dr. Stanley Huang, a member of our Immune Oncology Program, is a recipient of the @CureMelanoma Career Development and Established Investigator Award for his innovative research in melanoma treatment. #CureMelanoma https://t.co/6f0NVt2TDX
