Capture is more dangerous than censorship because it gives the impression of victory while preserving the underlying distribution of power. There are few forces darker than a system that learns to speak the moral language of its critics while continuing, underneath the new vocabulary, to metabolize the same old world.
The 'like' button, as the operational implementation of mimetic desire — a machine for amplifying what others want in order to generate wanting — is among the most destructive social technologies ever deployed. It has destabilized democracies, accelerated polarization, weaponized adolescent identity formation, and produced a global epidemic of comparison-based suffering.
i don't know how to put it on but am developing theory that one of the longs is in the media/arts space
for long time tech has been seen as high class and arts as low class professions, ai infra will vaporize many low level white collar tasks
pair that with people yearning for more quality real life experiences that aren't contaminated by ai slop and you have the groundwork set for a renaissance of talented artists & musicians with some sort of new age ways to consume media
