It sucks to say it. But Ovi on the ice kills our possession. Would be worth counting how many of his shifts lead to offensive possession time. He’ll get a pass on the wall or somewhere he can’t shoot and just throw it somewhere.

Yeah - going to need an explanation on taking the penalty down… the play was blown dead for the minor penalty. Igor was hurt on the same play but had nothing to do with the penalty.

My Caps hot take - IMO, this fight killed the Caps momentum and I think it rocked Ovi a bit - the ‘the dog’ in him disappeared. No evidence for it other than how the game felt after. I think seeing Svech on the ice messed him up a bit.

Biggest frustration here is Hutson is going to get the raw end of the deal by having Mac as his partner. I’d rather see Marty paired with him so Hutson and Unc stay together.

I get the frustration that Leno isn’t on the ‘1st line’ but from a game deployment aspect that ‘4th’ line IMO had the most impact on the TBL game, this gets him off a sheltered line and allows him to compete more consistently.

Carbs big takeaway last year with Leno was he needs to step up defensively and take on more responsibility to continue to develop his game. This gives him that chance with a line that will be used in all situations.
