@mike_petriello The strike zone being smaller this year hasn’t helped which is odd. @tangotiger had an interesting tweet recently about how it could be even smaller. Don’t see check swing challenges at big league level helping either
@TweetsbyCoachP Look at this through the lens of consumer behavior and what we have is the consumer telling us that the median game played is not valuable enough to each player. So, they have been cornered into believing that my child must never sit to maximize potential opportunities

@RomerFitness@CoachDavidKlein To steel man Klein I bet he’s more on the side of maximizing time and field use during practices instead of speeding up the youth game in general
@CoachDavidKlein To emphasize this point, during college scrimmages every infielder got fungos in between pitches of live scrimmages and there was a coach roaming beyond the dirt fungoing to outfielders.
Ohtani’s hands seem pretty far away from his body even right before launch. To me, this allows him to attack outside pitches without feeling like he’s taking a different swing. And on inside pitches he can pull them in to accelerate his rotation much like a figure skater would.
@SGuisgond@CoachDavidKlein What is coach pitch, if not batting practice with real game consequences?
“These aren’t games” is precisely the wrong mindset when considering progress in youth sports
The median youth baseball/softball games doesn’t provide enough value back to player, teams, orgs
@ADoricko Does this detract from a weather pattern’s ability to produce precipitation later in its cycle?
A system is moving towards locations x, y, and z. If, x is cloud seeded what can y and z expect?
@Coach_KGraber It would be entertaining but you probably aren’t winning a championship. The best versions of this are Ichiro’s. What makes them dangerous is that they can hit the ball over the outfielders. Evident in softball too, they decide when to slap or swing or bunt. Not just one
@CoachMongero More likely to see someone’s infield combine reps than a game rep. Also, harder to capture the complete footwork of game reps due to limited camera/production abilities. When you know where the ball is going there’s time to do extra stuff; stutter step, glove presentation, etc
A lot more close plays that produce mini suspense that baseball as a whole lacks. Speed on display by both offense and defense. Higher potential for chaos with errors that lead to extra bases. Slap hitting is an entertainment win-win.
@ShawnGillespi We need to demand more on field value from leagues, tournaments, and events. This costs league and event organizers nothing in operations.
@ShawnGillespi As a parent, if there was any chance that our team; go 0-3 and my child only gets 6 at bats on a weekend. This is what I would demand to play in.
Ask yourself, would I rather my child get 6 at bats with nobody on base or 6 with RISP and they ran the bases at least 6 times.
