@GreekTweeterV2@HMBohemond What works against the White Walkers is any sort of weapon using fire, which Kings Landing has in spades. For some reason they left Chekhovs whole arsenal hanging on the wall
@snowset The original "Sensitive Young Man" books are Colin Wilson's The Outsider Sequence, as well as the books by Elaine Aron. A lot of the great men of history were quite sensitive - difference being they weren't crushed to a pulp in childhood
@infantrydort Nelson was put ashore on half-pay for 5 years in his twenties. I think he also lost his first naval battle, against a smaller ship than his own no less iirc
@sullivan_mma Anxiety and stress comes from when you feel pressured or threatened by something and are unable to kill it.
We're evolved hunters, the reason everyone is so stressed is bc we can no longer kill the predator in the bushes to sleep soundly anymore.
There's something a lot more straightforward and easy to stomach about open conflict than there is about the passive-aggressive and foggy nature of a corporate setting in 2026
@Hombrelmparable Women can't forgive certain things. Their husbands will have a screaming, punching throw-down and be back working with each other 48 hours later. The wives who never participated will hate each-other for years afterward.
It's a sign of female loyalty - almost a kind of sweetness
@BradRTorgersen The Battle of Kursk was 10-20 times bigger than D-Day.
With all due respect to Rommel (a better man than me in every way), he commanded at most 3 German divisions in the field, in the desert, along a theater oriented along 1 highway, with 1 supply line and like 2 cities
@BradRTorgersen The "incompetent" Red Army deceived Hitler and a million Germans into a pincer assault on the secretly fortified Kursk salient. They ground them down and counter-attacked with 2.5 m pre-staged men and the greatest tank and aircraft battle in history, mangling 2000 km of front
@BradRTorgersen Rommel never commanded more than a handful of divisions and had zero experience of the Eastern Front. Guderian and his colleagues drove through France in 6 weeks and couldn't defeat Russia. Regarding the competency of the Red Army, you really ought to look up the Battle of Kursk.
@BradRTorgersen Nonsense. North Africa was a tiny sideshow next to the Eastern Front, and Rommel had no command experience at thr latter's scale of magnitude.
At the time of D-Day, the Red Army was vastly experienced, hardened, and led by very good generals. Look up the Battle of Kursk.
@SandyofCthulhu Striking that none of the characters have any "cool" or menacing qualities. Childlike pastel color scheme and utterly harmless looking character design
@Inclutus What do you think about blimp-assisted quadcopters? A small helium envelope for buoyancy. I suppose it would be impractical for the battlefield, but I wonder about other contexts...
@uncle_deluge What are some good translations for The Iliad and The Odyssey? I've been reading the WHD Rouse modern prose translations, but I feel like I might be missing a lot...
