@GillianKeegan The reason I went on strike is because the current education we are offering children isn’t good enough. Children deserve well qualified teachers in all subjects, until we need to improve teachers t&c until we can attract enough graduates to the profession.

Teacher recruitment crisis
Crumbling buildings
Child poverty

@GillianKeegan Traditionally employers would negotiate with workers and agree terms, especially highly educated workers who could fairly easily move abroad. You can’t force people to work.

@Strickomaster That they are more interested in socialising than the lesson content but are thoughtful enough to not want to disrupt? Sometimes it’s not that deep, but it’s still communication.

@nikkkireed9510 @teachwellall Waiting lists for support are long, up to 2 years for CAMHS, up to a year to special school provision. There’s few quick fixes and sometimes by the time a certain resource is triggered the situation is already dire.

@nikkkireed9510 @teachwellall At what setting will trauma be healed? I worry that changing place isn’t always helpful. We find parents are often very resistant to a specialist setting and often school is the place of calm in the storm, then there’s what happens when a situation rapidly deteriorates 1/2

@nikkkireed9510 @teachwellall Our mainstream has funded tens of thousands of pounds of educational support for our kids in most need, LEA is funding high needs kids, but other services are also needed, extreme violence and/or drugs can not be allowed in school & will result in exclusion.

@nikkkireed9510 @teachwellall If those needs require psychology or family support or social services or community support or housing they largely go unmet. Schools are there for education & need to meet that need, but we can not solve all of societies problems.

@adamboxer1 I’m convinced the biggest threat to private schools are good state schools. I’ve pulled one kid out because state experience was *awful*. Hear a private near to my pretty good state is in very precarious position due to falling roll. I’ll find 20% more if I have to.
