In a recent forum, popular neuroscientist and health guru, Andrew Huberman, revealed his secret for falling asleep in those anxious mid-morning hours when he says you shouldn't believe any thought that fills your mind. He said, "I'm being completely direct with you when I say it's worked every single time."

Huberman: "What I do is I get out of bed, and I pray. And these days, you know, again, I'm just being completely direct with my practice, I just pray to God. I pray, I just ask Jesus, 'Would you please hold me and bring me some peace so I can rest, so I can be my best self tomorrow, so I can serve the world better. And I'm hurting right now, and I can't seem to do it for myself.'

He also referenced techniques for calming the body in this discussion, but he emphasized the relief he has found through prayer:

"It's a great time to pray. I'm serious, many a night, many a night, you will find me on my knees praying in the hours between 3 and 5:00 a.m. simply for peace, simply to get to morning without additional stress, simply just trying to listen for something other than my own anxious thoughts."

As a woman in her late 40s, I found it comforting to know that even big, strong health gurus know what it's like to struggle with sleep, but also to be reminded that ultimately it's the Lord who gives peace and rest to those who cast their anxious cares on Him. 💤

Introducing Wikiwise: an open-source Mac app for managing your own Karpathy-style LLM wiki.

Set up a new wiki in a few clicks: all you need is Wikiwise + your agent.

It's infinitely customizable, just markdown/html under the hood, and one click to share your wiki publicly.

Here's how it works:

* Install Wikiwise for mac (it's built in Swift so super minimal and performant). In Karpathy's framework, Wikiwise is your IDE.

* Start a new Wiki: it generates a new folder on your machine that's scaffolded in the wiki structure @karpathy describes (index.md, raw folder, wiki folder, CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md, although it tries to be as un-opinionated as possible).

* Then just point your agent (Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, etc) at the folder and tell it what to import -- files on your machine, connect to your @readwise account, or urls from the web.

* Your agent creates wthe wiki for you: Your agent will know how to ingest your raw sources (via the AGENTS.md) and will immediately start writing+linking wiki pages for you.

* Go crazy on customization! The rendered wiki pages live as static html/css in your folder too so just tell your agent to change stuff, and if you need any more customization Wikiwise is fully open source :)

* Ask questions about your research with your agent, ask it to bring in new sources, write new documents, etc.

* (optionally) Hit the Publish button to share your wiki with friends/colleagues at a custom URL

I tried to walk the line on a couple constraints with Wikiwise:

1. I wanted it to be easy to spin up new wikis, especially without chaining together a bunch of different apps. It takes me a few minutes to spin up a new wiki on a topic -- I already have five!

2. Infinitely Customizable: one great aspect of building a wiki as Karpathy described is that you can modify any aspect of your wiki with your agent. Every new wiki styling+structure is self-contained in the local folder, which allows you to preserve this. Wikiwise is just an IDE that makes the setup easier and includes a nice un-opinionated starting state.

3. Minimal: Wikiwise is built mostly in Swift, and the DMG you install to download it is only 2.6MB (!)

4. Easy Publishing: my colleague @EleanorKonik has been building her own LLM wikis for months, but has always really struggled to actually share them with her book club. There are tools to do it, but figuring out hosting is always a huge headache. This seemed like an ideal usecase for a tool like Wikiwise to solve.

The process of building wikiwise was also pretty interesting -- I "bootstrapped" the app in a way by first building my own wiki based on Karpathy's tweet and other notes I had, and slowly formed the shape of the project in collaboration with my LLM. This was all done in 3 days over the latest Readwise company hackathon we had. Truly an incredible time to be alive.

Meteora is an exquisite complex that consists of huge dark stone pillars rising outside Trikala, near the mountains of Pindos. Monasteries that sit on top of these rocks make up the second most important monastic community in Greece, after Mount Athos in Halkidiki. Out of the thirty monasteries that were founded throughout the centuries, only six of them are active today.

History of Meteora goes many millenniums back. Theories upon the creation of this natural phenomenon are associated with the geological movements that have occurred several geological periods ago. Scientists believe that these pillars were formatted about 60 million years ago, during the Tertiary Period. That time, the area was covered by sea but a series of earth movements caused the seabed to withdraw. The mountains left were continuously hit by strong winds and waves, which, in combination with extreme weather conditions, affected their shape. This is why the pillars are composed of sandstone and conglomerate.

In Byzantine times, monks had the inspiration to construct monasteries on top of these rocks so that they would be closer to god. The foundation of Meteora monasteries began around the 11th Century CE. In the 12th Century CE, the first ascetic state was officially formed and established a church to the Mother of God as their worshiping center. Activities on this church were not only related to worshiping God, but hermits used these occasions to discuss their problems and exchange ideas relating to their ascetic life there.

In the 14th Century CE, Saint Athanasios established the Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of Jesus and named this huge rock Meteoro, which means hanged from nowhere. This monastery is also known as the Holy Monastery of the Great Meteoron, the largest of all monasteries. For many centuries, the monks used scaffolds for climbing the rocks and getting supplies. As years passed, this method was followed by the use of nets with hooks and rope ladders. Sometimes a basket was used, which was pulled up by the monks. Wooden ladders of 40 meters long were also one of the essential tools for accessing the monasteries.

Between the 15th-17th Century CE, Meteora was at its prime with the arrival of many monks from other monasteries or people who wanted to lead an ascetic life in this divine environment. However, the prosperity of Meteora during that time started to fade away after the 17th Century CE, mainly due to the raids of thieves and conquerors. These caused many monasteries to be abandoned or destructed. Today, only 6 monasteries operate with a handful of monks each. The only nunnery (female monastery) is the Monastery of Agios Stefanos.
