One thing I was not prepared for regarding motherhood is how many people, close friends, family, and total strangers, would talk to me with such total contempt and rudeness about my family and being a SAHM
@RageScrolled It’s not great out there. One graded assignment was to make a list of any reference in media to teaching. A list of tv shows, movies, and books that just mention teaching. For a grade. In grad school.
@kenzietuff@SigNSour Maybe? I didn’t really know this woman just was chatting with her at a baby shower. She is a professor of childhood development (lol) so we ended up talking a lot about children.
@ThatEngineer3N6@kkkitty1488 Yeah I am the same. I was an elementary school teacher! It makes so much sense to stay and we are in a good position and blessed that I can. I really love it and I finally feel happy! I wouldn’t ever say everyone has to be in lockstep but people are really mean about it!
@kkkitty1488 It’s just bizarre how strong people’s desire to naysay it is. I love our daughter so much I am hands down the happiest I have ever been. Being home with her is unit I felt more fulfilling to me than any job I have had.
@KristinCarrigg We went to a *baby shower* and a total stranger asked me if I thought I’d be able to be at home and homeschool! It was so hurtful and rude. I’ve never said anything like that about someone doing a degree or career!
When I was doing my MSEd no one ever said to me “I don’t want to listen to you talk about your masters,” “I hate only talking about masters programs,” “are you sure you can do that?” etc etc etc
