Lebanon has been gripped by escalating violence, widespread displacement, and growing humanitarian needs. This crisis is exacerbating an already crippling economic situation, with 75% of the population living below the poverty line.
From the very first day, @RedCrossLebanon has been on the front lines of this emergency, serving as the country’s primary responders. Their teams are working 24/7, evacuating the injured and transporting them to safety across Lebanon. But the challenges they face are immense. The Lebanese Red Cross is facing shortages of medical supplies, ambulances, and fuel.
The situation is also affecting neighboring Syria, where over 80,000 people—both Lebanese and Syrian—have been displaced. The @SYRedCrescent is actively responding, providing urgent medical care, relief supplies, and shelter to those in need at the border.
The @RedCrossLebanon and the @SYRedCrescent, with the support of the IFRC, remain committed to deliver crucial aid under incredibly challenging circumstances. However, humanitarian assistance alone is not and cannot be the answer. A political solution is crucial.
I call on all parties to this conflict to exercise the utmost restraint.
Today, on International Volunteer Day, we celebrate the Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers who are making a difference in people’s lives worldwide.
Their dedication, empathy, & passion inspire us all.
Thank you for volunteering & for being a beacon of hope for humanity.
It's #WorldHumanitarianDay.
Who is a humanitarian?
Humanitarians are people who serve, help, & care for others. And as we face rising humanitarian challenges, we need them more than ever.
But they need to be protected.
Humanitarians are not a target. #NoMatterWhat

Dream jobs are real. But work you love a little too much is exhausting.
In the midst of a meaningful career, there’s no pause button to analyze, reflect + reorient. So, I’m building one.
