@MarcJBrooker I wish most of those were noops so I could easily migrate without tuning specifically to DSQL and not be able to use Postgres directly locally.

That said, it’s one of the clear trade offs as well so I guess as long as it known, we adjust.

@MarcJBrooker I really like DSQL approach and the tradeoffs are clear enough that folks can make informed decisions.
My only problem whenever I try integrating is that syntax prevents some local dev workflow to happen (e.g async when creating indexes or non serial support)

@theo In that note if it’s the pump you can tune it down in the BIOS (pump settings where you can chance fan speed). E.g. if it’s ramping up and whining, you can run on a fixed speed (1899-2000rpm) or prevent it from ramping too much (which I imagine is 3000rpm for the arctic AIO)

@theo Does sound like coil whine — have you tried checking another AIO? (Or just an air cooler). Though yeah, not super easy to switch 🫠

I had some situations where 1) my AIO pump started whining and I had to replace 2) there was a cable too close to some of the fans

@nstfkc Not sure if the DB will be the problem. A nice index for it and it will cost basically nothing.

Traditionally people use redis for this, but you can start with a simple LRU map(fetch from db once, cache afterwards) if you don’t have multiple running instances yet

@birch_js @ivnglushko Reading it I feel the same way as Ivan, sounds like you have a great use case for either Golang or Rust.

Might be easier to do JS/TS now but a single binary would be great for it (and if you choose rust you get to capture a lot of error cases early and have peace of mind)

@gwenshap NATS maybe? You can have queues that persist, pubsub, object store… and the memory footprint is lower compared to others.

@PaulDJohnston Also the ability to run multiple pods in one Node ; I am saving money by only using 1 node to run 17 low usage micro services instead of paying the bill on 3 or 4 machines - or 17. That said, The providers are still (EKS) very expensive
