Since 2 days ago, no reversal even after logging dispute.

There are too many startups in Nigeria solving nonsense problems.

This is a country with massive insecurity.
People are hungry.
Transportation is a daily struggle.
Over 20 million children are out of school.
Healthcare is broken.
Power is unreliable.
Jobs are scarce.

Why are there so few startups solving fundamental Nigerian problems?
And why are so many chasing problems that barely exist here?

Technology is not about writing code.
Technology is not about buzzwords.
Technology is not about sounding smart on pitch decks.

Technology is simply a better way of solving real problems.

If your solution cannot meaningfully touch:
•security
•education
•transportation
•healthcare
•food systems
•jobs
•cost of living

then maybe it’s not innovation, maybe it’s just noise.

Nigeria does not need more cool startups. Nigeria needs useful ones.

Let’s go back to basics.

This video got me thinking about the place of IG in contemporary Nigerian internet fraud - as both enabler and disruptor of crime.

This Instagram post (screenshot from YouTube video in thread below) is a key piece of detail that helped investigators locate the alleged fraudster. His wife flexing on IG about their new mansion.

It’s almost impossible to commit internet fraud in Nigeria today and not flex on the internet. IG being the ideal platform for such flexing. Hushpuppi template.

That flexing serves two purposes:

1. Earns you an adoring God-when-ing audience. Always hanging around to congratulate you and hoping to be ‘blessed’ the way you’ve been ‘blessed’

2. Gives you away when it’s time for the music to stop playing. Your footprints are all over the place, doing prosecution-witness work.
