It is not disingenuous. If you earn over $190k you will pay 47% on any capital gain. Or if you are on an extremely low founder salary whilst you build your business and finally get the reward of selling, if you sell for over $500k for example, you are paying 42%-45% CGT.

The old 50% CGT discount landed you at around a 23.5% top marginal.

Defending higher taxes is stupid.
