Holding back our tears or not allowing them can keep us in a dysregulated state. So allow your tears to flow. If you need to take space and be in private, take it.

Research shows oxytocin and endorphins are in tears. Crying is the parasympathetic attempt to bring the body back to homeostasis. Crying is your body's attempt to get you out of fight or flight.
If someone has self-diagnosed as autistic, and ends up being wrong (which is incredibly rare, by the way), the likelihood is that they are actually neurodivergent, just in a different way. They self-diagnosed as autistic for a reason and they still need support for those reasons.
The feeling of being valuable -- "I am a valuable person" -- is essential to mental health and is a cornerstone of self-discipline... because when one considers oneself valuable one will take care of oneself in all ways that are necessary.
