Allow the app to access your contacts, know your precise location, store your credit card details. Oops, sorry, we got hacked now all that info is available on the web. There’s a class action suit. That info is circulating now, too. Here’s a spam call, a spam email, a spam text. Why are you angry? Why are you talking about getting rid of your phone? Why don’t you like AI, it lets us make all of this easier? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? This is progress. You’ll be left behind. Do you want to be left behind? Do you???

Okay so,

1) an American citizen exercises his First Amendment right to peaceably assemble and his Second Amendment right to bear arms, out of apparent concern that a tyrannical federal government is violating basic protections afforded under the Constitution

2) after coming to the aid of an unarmed woman who's been shoved to the ground by a masked federal agent, the citizen -- impaired by pepper spray, holding nothing but a cell phone -- is dragged to the ground by a group of other masked agents

3) during the scuffle, shortly after one masked agent removes the weapon from the restrained citizen's person, several other masked agents open fire, unloading 10 shots from close range and killing the unarmed citizen

4) despite video evidence, a spokesman for the federal government says the citizen approached agents with a gun, provoked a violent confrontation, and planned to "massacre" law enforcement

You really want to defend this? Go ahead. Just know, you look like an absolute fool.

I just got off the phone with a business owner in Mississippi. He’s pumped millions into a business distributing a product he imports from China. His contract with the company prevents him from manufacturing it in the U.S.

He also has contracts with a number of large retailers (Walmart, Walgreens, etc). He described some of those contracts as inflexible — requiring him to sell a unit at a set price. He told me he anticipates paying over $1 million in tariffs next week (as the 54% tariff kicks in) and has no ability to simply upcharge his retail customers to cover the expense.

In his words, “Russ, I don’t have 54% profit. This is put me out of business stuff.”

I share this because there are probably tens of thousands of businesses in similar situations. I just happened to have one reach out to me.

This is...an unwise move, America.

Israel cut tariffs to zero, as asked, and still faces a huge 17% tariff.

Because it's not really a "reciprocal tariff." That's a stupid lie. It's a punishment for our trade deficit.

But here's the thing, America. We literally can't prevent that trade deficit.

We consume a LOT of American goods. But lots of that consumption - McDonald's and Coca-Cola, for example - is via local subsidiaries established here by those companies. It doesn't count in the "import" side of the ledger.

And Israel is a tech-heavy exporter. You keep buying our tech (and our tech companies) for vast sums while our population is just too small to buy as much from you.

In other words, our trade deficit is a function of how valuable you find our tech, of our usefulness to the American economy, and especially the tech and defense industries.

Long story short, you're punishing us for things we can't control - and for the very things you find most valuable about us. And there's nothing we can do to change it.

I'll put it bluntly, as a genuine lover of America: This is screw-balls. This is not a policy. This doesn't incentivize favorable trade with you. This is telling the world you're not trying to make sense or seriously pursuing your own interests. You're just raging.

Our products are good enough to be desirable everywhere. Even our enemies want them. If you decide, for no reason any American official can currently explain, that we can no longer sell them to you, we will still find buyers.

So help me out, Americans. What the hell is going on here?

We're small, you won't notice if our trade goes elsewhere. But you're doing this to everyone. If you didn't do your homework on us, what are the chances you've done your homework on anyone else? How is this blind rage going to end well for ordinary Americans?

Honestly don’t know what’s going on.

You have well known liberal pundits finally arguing for growing the pie instead of trying to redistribute it and that the bureaucracy is failing people while prominent people on the right are adopting Marxist talking points about the need to accept sacrifice for the common good.

A lot of people insisting that the same free market system that dragged millions out of poverty and made America the richest country in the world is the real problem. A system where even our poor have a higher standard of living than the middle class in almost every other country on earth. But it apparently isn’t working because goods are too cheap and people, when given the choice, prefer white collar jobs to working in factories nowadays.

And of course none of the people saying all this are the ones who actually work in those factories. They just assume someone else wants to.

Did you actually ask the people who are employed in service jobs while we have 4% unemployment if they prefer to work in plants? Of course not.

Instead you’re clapping like seals as the captain drives the ship towards the iceberg. And then getting mad at some of us for screaming there’s an iceberg ahead and you can’t just spin your way out of the damage to the ship after you hit it.

Trump thinks he’s going to be FDR but instead he’s headed into Herbert Hoover territory. While the WH and social media is full of yes men telling him it’s brilliant and that the ship will magically bypass the iceberg.

He has the chance to be a very successful President. Americans support policies to secure the border. They support deportations of people who shouldn’t be here. They want a strong FP that uses American strength to punish enemies and secure American interests. They are even understanding of some pain to cut government waste and fraud. But most of all they care about their pocketbooks. They voted for the booming pre-COVID economy of Trump’s first term. They voted for growth, lower pricing, and low unemployment. They might even tolerate some questionable threats to achieve cooperation on key issues.

But they didn’t vote for central planning of our economy. They didn’t vote for trade wars. They didn’t vote for crashing our economy based on a wacky theory on how to refinance our debt. They didn’t vote for higher prices or job cuts. And no amount of spin will deflect the blame for those things.

You can pretend we don’t know what happens when you hit an iceberg, but we do. And the predictable next step is the same people downplaying the harm will be calling for price controls and blaming the consequences on everyone else (can’t wait for the “greedy corporations” lines).

You can do what you want but don’t say we didn’t warn you. And please stop pissing on our feet and telling us it’s raining.
