For two decades, Vladimir Putin managed to trick the world into believing he was a master geopolitical chess player.
The catastrophic invasion of Ukraine has permanently shattered that illusion, exposing him as one of the most wildly overestimated strategists in modern history.
Putin's long streak of international ”successes” was never a product of strategic brilliance. Instead, his ”victories” happened simply because he was willing to break international rules and push further than his targets expected. Many of his opponents mistakenly believed that appeasement would preserve stability, which only encouraged his aggressive behavior for years.
The moment someone finally stood up to him, the entire facade came crashing down. Ukraine refused to capitulate, and the Kremlin's supposedly unstoppable military machine failed pathetically. Putin completely miscalculated the resolve of Ukrainian people and the unity of the West, proving that his earlier triumphs were just the result of bullying weak and hesitant adversaries.
By overstretching his forces in this reckless war, he has effectively ruined the economic potential and future of Russia. His legacy is now defined by a bleeding military, crippling sanctions, and absolute isolation from the developed world. It is a pathetic end for a ruler who genuinely believed his own propaganda
Today is the 82nd anniversary of D-Day – the Allied landings in Normandy, which significantly hastened the countdown to the Nazis' collapse in World War II. It is one of the most important moments of unity among the defenders of life in human history, and it was less than a year until the peoples’ aspiration for freedom and the hope of peace prevailed in May 1945. It happened then. We are working to make it happen again today.
And although yesterday in Petersburg another cynical order to continue killing was issued for the army trying to destroy our freedom, history has seen this before. The Nazis also had their own hopes after D-Day. But freedom still wins. And even in the darkest circumstances, people find ways to come together to protect life.
I thank all those who are now helping to protect the values that prevailed in World War II. I thank everyone who is defending life. Glory to Ukraine!
Dear @DAGToddBlanche: You don’t get to decide to “move on” from the Epstein Files or from following the congressional law. That decision can only be made by the American people and Congress.
You will be disbarred. The files will eventually be released.
November is coming.
Truly morally sickening: that anyone should wish all of Ukraine to suffer the fate of Mariupol or Bucha. Russian occupation of Ukraine means random arrests, executions, concentration camps; the destruction of language and culture; mass kidnapping of children. All of these things have been documented in the occupied territories and continue to go on.
The issue is not the ratio of people, it’s Hegseth, inserting himself into the process and overruling promotion boards - including an attempt to promote someone the services passed over “several times”
Trumpism is the revenge of the third string.
My 3 yo was watching CBS when she turned to me gravely and asked ”Daddy how come they all suck up to the orange man?” And when I told her “Because today’s elites are the most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that were ever shat into civilization,” she started crying
Today, I presented state awards of Ukraine to the people without whom Operation “Spiderweb” would not have happened. We have no right to name them – everything remains absolutely classified and will remain so for a long time. This is already a historic operation by the Security Service of Ukraine, one that was carefully prepared, and on this very day one year ago, it entered its final stage – striking Russian military equipment. Farther than Ukrainian long-range capabilities had ever reached before. As precisely as no one in Russia expected. And as justly as the enemy’s strategic aviation deserves.
“Spiderweb” destroyed or at least damaged 41 aircraft. Never before had Russia lost such equipment, in such numbers, and as a result of strikes by drones that were incomparably cheaper. Ukraine has once again proved that it knows how to act asymmetrically, that it defends itself actively and truly creatively, and that Russia has no chance of overcoming Ukrainian courage. Ukraine will always be one step ahead – in technology, in bravery, and in the ability to capture the world’s attention and rally the support of millions of human hearts.
Ukraine is now applying long-range sanctions against Russia for this war literally every day. We did not start this war, we did not provoke it, and the only thing we wanted for Ukraine and Ukrainians was peace. But as long as the Russians choose the opposite, and as long as Russia does everything to drag out this war and expand it, Ukrainians will continue to find responses that will definitely work. I thank all our warriors for their precision! I thank the Security Service of Ukraine for its long-range leadership! I thank everyone who helps us! Glory to Ukraine!
Ossoff: He’s trying to put his face on the money. He's building a monument to himself . But see, Atlanta, he's doing these things now because no one will honor him when he’s gone… because he's a failed president and a national disgrace.
.@jamestalarico: I've had a lot of interviews with national media. No one's ever asked me about the cost of housing. No one's asked me about the cost of prescription drugs. The only thing the media wants to ask me about are trans athletes.
The only minority destroying this country is the billionaires. Trans people are 1% of the population. Undocumented people are 1% of the population. We are all focused on the wrong 1%.
Trans people aren't taking away our healthcare. Undocumented people aren't defunding our schools. It's the billionaires and their puppet politicians
American soldiers die in Trump's war, not a word from Donald. Gas and food prices skyrocket, not a word from Donald. People demand the Epstein files, not a word from Donald. But the minute you take his fat name off a building, Donald writes Mein Kampf for Morons.
James Talarico on abortion: “I trust Texas women to make decisions about their own bodies, to shape their own destinies. I don’t believe that’s a place for government. That’s a belief I hold not despite my faith, but because of my faith. Jesus never talks about abortion. The Bible is silent on abortion”
I’m sorry I like Shapiro but can we just be real? Nobody is being silenced. AIPAC and allied groups are spending more than anyone besides tech (if you lump AI/crypto) in these primaries. If Big Oil put 30 mil into a house race and people said Big Oil was trying to buy races nobody would complain about that.
We can acknowledge that anti-semitism is a scourge that is on the rise & that some people use AIPAC as a stand in for “jews”, while also stating plainly that the pro-Israel lobby is trying to influence these races at a disproportionate level.
Both of those things are happening. The former won’t be helped by pretending like the latter isnt.
Putin didn't invade Ukraine because of NATO. He invaded because Ukrainians were proving democracy works.
Historian and Pulitzer Prize winner Anne Applebaum puts it plainly: Putin looked at Ukraine's democratic movement and thought, "If they can do it in Ukraine, then people could do it in Russia. So I need to crush this."
That's the real threat Ukraine posed. Not missiles. Not borders. A working democracy next door.
Applebaum frames the war as a fault line between the democratic and autocratic worlds. Russia isn't just trying to take territory. It's trying to erase Ukraine as a nation, reduce it to a colony, and send a message to every country that the post-1945 rules of Europe no longer apply.
Those rules were simple: no invasions, no wars, borders don't change by force. Russia understood exactly what it was breaking when it crossed into Ukraine.
The American-led negotiations in Ukraine prolonged the war by encouraging Putin. The Russians dangled ludicrous business"deals" in front of Witkoff and Kushner who were too gullible to understand that they were being manipulated. Good the US has abandoned this failed policy
