If your future best self-a version of you 10 years older, who is even stronger, more capable, and more successful-showed up on ur doorstep 2day and looked at your current circumstances, what courageous action would that future self advise you 2 take right away 2 change your life?
Patriarchy wasn't invented. It was EARNED.
Men didn't sit in a circle one day and say "how do we oppress women?"
They were too busy trying not to let their entire bloodline get WIPED OUT by animals or invaders or bad weather.
Before feminism. Before 9-5s. Before police. Before DoorDash. There was nature, and nature is TRYING TO KILL YOU.
Someone has to kill the bear, the wolves before it kills your baby.
Something has to fight the rival tribe that wants to rape your wife and behead your sons and steal your land.
Something has to lift the boulders, chop the trees, climb the trees, build the wall, dig the trench, stand watch at 3AM in -20 degrees while his family sleeps.
Who? Tell me who does that? Women?
MEN DID IT. Because only men COULD do it.
Patriarchy is not a conspiracy. It is biology meeting survival. Men took the role of the expendable sex because someone HAD to be expendable.
And expendable they were.
The deal was simple and brutal: Women are protected and cherished inside. Men are sacrificed outside.
Women got safety. Men got the grave.
That system built every civilization on earth. Every house you live in, every road you drive on, every freedom you have was paid for by male corpses you will never know the names of.
So when you say "patriarchy oppresses women," what you really mean is "I'm ungrateful that men died so I could live long enough to hate them. If they had given you rights and freedom 400 yeats ago, humanity would have gone extinct.
I have spent the end of this week conducting an arbitration in Harare which took me to the north of Harare again - Highlands, Borrowdale etc.
It was a stark reminder that Zimbabwe has become a tale of two economies. The first economy is that of Harare north where all the major roads (not just the arterial roads but the cross roads as well) are in tip top condition and the profusion of mind boggling mansions and Rolls Royce motor vehicles is staggering. It is the economy of Toyota Landcruisers being gifted with tens of thousands of US$ cash “spending money”. It is the economy of musicians being paid a million dollars to sing at a birthday party. It is the economy of young connected women in their 20s owning properties worth millions of dollars from unexplained sources of wealth. It is the economy of connected people being paid millions of dollars of taxpayers money for contracts which remain unfulfilled.
Then there is the other economy. It is the economy of hundreds of thousands of children out of school. It is the economy of government schools literally collapsing before our very eyes. It is the economy of hospitals without basic medications. It is the economy of 97 poor Zimbabweans dying on a ferry which needed repairs costing the equivalent of one Toyota Fortuna to become seaworthy. It is the economy of those 97 families being paid $100 each as compensation for their irreparable loss. It is the economy of major roads collapsing totally , allegedly being rehabilitated by the very same people who are building mansions in Harare north and driving on their pristine roads in Rolls Royces.
Something is very seriously wrong with our body politic.
Underrated life hack: Build a “no matter what” habit. One thing you do every day, regardless of mood, chaos, or excuses. Ten minutes of writing. A short walk. A chapter read. These become your anchors. The habit isn’t the point; who you become by keeping it is.
Nobody tells you this: The speed at which you recover from a mistake matters more than whether you make one. Everyone makes mistakes. The gap between 'I messed up' and 'here's what I'm doing about it' is where winners separate from everyone else. Compress that gap.
Bayes’ theorem is probably the single most important thing any rational person can learn.
So many of our debates and disagreements that we shout about are because we don’t understand Bayes’ theorem or how human rationality often works.
Bayes’ theorem is named after the 18th-century Thomas Bayes, and essentially it’s a formula that asks: when you are presented with all of the evidence for something, how much should you believe it?
Bayes’ theorem teaches us that our beliefs are not fixed; they are probabilities. Our beliefs change as we weigh new evidence against our assumptions, or our priors. In other words, we all carry certain ideas about how the world works, and new evidence can challenge them.
For example, somebody might believe that smoking is safe, that stress causes mouth ulcers, or that human activity is unrelated to climate change. These are their priors, their starting points. They can be formed by our culture, our biases, or even incomplete information.
Now imagine a new study comes along that challenges one of your priors. A single study might not carry enough weight to overturn your existing beliefs. But as studies accumulate, eventually the scales may tip. At some point, your prior will become less and less plausible.
Bayes’ theorem argues that being rational is not about black and white. It’s not even about true or false. It’s about what is most reasonable based on the best available evidence. But for this to work, we need to be presented with as much high-quality data as possible. Without evidence—without belief-forming data—we are left only with our priors and biases. And those aren’t all that rational.
Stop listening to people that say listen to your body, they look just like you because you’ve been listening to your body.
Get to work even when your body says no, be extra ordinary, get that elite aura, wishing you luck❤️
This is what happens when a kickboxer or an MMA fighter fights a PURE boxer. They're not used to pressure fighting and pocket boxing cuz they're always in range with those kicks.
Nothing surprising, and yeah he still beats Chase Demoor
Your relationships aren’t random. They’re emotional remixes of your childhood.
But once you notice the same old melodies, you can stop auditioning for roles that keep breaking your fucking heart.
