People with ADHD have what’s called Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD). It’s an extreme emotional response to perceived criticism or rejection.
Your brain can’t regulate the emotional pain, so a small comment feels like a devastating attack. A minor correction feels like total failure. Someone’s tone feels like hatred.
It’s not oversensitivity. It’s not being dramatic. Your brain literally can’t modulate the intensity of that emotional response.
It’s neurological, not a character flaw
ADHD’s worst symptom isn’t distraction, it’s paralysis. Knowing exactly what to do, being fully aware, and still sitting there watching yourself not do it. That silent shame is the part nobody talks about.
ADHD tax is real sometimes you’ll have to pay more money because you forget to do something, missed a flight booked a ticket on the wrong day, etc. if you accept that will happen sometimes it’s good to have a bit of a buffer in your budget for screwups.
