Working on gta3, Vice, SA and gta4 was more like a regular job than people imagine.
Most of us worked headphones on in our own area - art, code, music - for 8 hours a day.
We had very few meetings.
Only a small number of people made the big decisions about gameplay and story.
Especially towards the end, a lot of the job is fixing an endless stream of bugs.
Fun fact: We used to have ‘pencils down’ 2 weeks before going gold. Then we'd all play through the game to find the last bugs.
That would be the first time I played the missions in order and experienced the story. There would be missions I hadn't seen before.
It’s so interesting that this study method, which I use for visual art, is also effective for music!
Please give this a try if you’re learning art or music; it’s very effective! I’ll attach the tweet where I described my similar study method below.
A world premiere trailer just revealed Last Ditch Effort from @MoonwellGames, a dark anime brawler with jaw-dropping pixel art. It's coming to PC in 2027.
In the next version of the itch app you can... make your itch games show up in Steam 😅. This has been a long outstanding request that should make it easier to play your itch games without having to change apps on Steam Deck or Big Picture mode

I'm making a game where you have to make 1,000,000 games about doing a boring, simple action 1,000,000 times
The catch is you actually have to sit down and make 1,000,000 of these games
