That’s not all folks..the violations from this incinerator have been so egregious that the facility was fined $1.75 million by the @OAGMaryland last year - the largest fine EVER - due to its repeated violations of state laws and exposing the public to biohazards.

On Mar 20 @HopkinsMedicine & @JohnsHopkins committed to ending its contract with Curtis Bay Energy, the nations LARGEST medical waste incinerator. Today, Hopkins students, faculty, and staff are calling on these institutions to make good on their promise!📣

What is medical waste incineration? Think biohazard waste, like used needles, surgical waste, etc. Here’s a picture (c/o Maryland Office of the Attorney General) of incomplete incineration of medical waste from Curtis Bay Energy. This is burned by the TONS. Every year.
