@ClynelishFarm Hi Vic. You likely already follow & listen but have you tuned into latest episode of@neXtgenAgri Head Shepherd podcast? A bit on BCS with mating ewe lambs 👍
#Nuffield22 Travel Planning!
Hope to visit farmers & academics using condition as a selection tool in breeding stock. Any animal, anywhere 🌏, though esp in tough environments.
Canada, Chile, Argentina, Australia, NZ, Finland, Russia, Africa..
RTs appreciated!!

@RaemoreFarm@RomanyHerefords@owensheepfarmer Yeh my advise would be to move over it fairly quickly with lighter stock / back fence. Is there a sacrifice area nearby you can send them if you hit a prolonged wet spell to avoid ploughing it. It kicks off growth again in Feb 👍
@johnmpringle1@EdinvaleFarm@howemill@bankhousefarm01@FearnFarm Both are equally important to me. Positive to see them putting money where their mouth is however increasingly cynical about claims of positive environmental credentials. It’s now a marketing tool, where’s the proof? But agree, rather they were supported by Scottish theme🏴
@arcspark That’s why I ran the count on the scouring group. As you know mature ewes shouldn’t need worming, any that can’t perform under the pressure are being identified & culled. I took this flock over in April this year & making strides to sort them out, I’m just sharing the journey
@slathangie9@neXtgenAgri@AnimaxBoluses is keeping them right on this front, I should have said we’ve also had blood reports done.
My rule is don’t tolerate the exceptions. Select what you want and wave good bye 👋 to what you don’t want. And with trade where it is, it’s never been easier
@slathangie9 Hi Stewart.Soils tested & we are deficient in cobalt & selenium but not copper. We should test mins in forage, so will get on to that 👍
Our draft cheviot ewes run on same ground but don’t suffer from clarty arses.Dags hereditary so I’ve heard #headshepherdpodcast@neXtgenAgri
@DuncanMillerr It would offer option of that yes, my more rustic frugal thought was to see what germinates from seed bank…hopefully not a bloom of thistles & docks as has been the case around the historic ring feeder sites 🙈 I hope this has been a result of compaction
