@MCPS @mocoboe gives McKight $1.3 million for being a bad superintendent, but they want to cut my developmentally disabled kid’s PT from once a week to once a month. She still can’t consistently walk up and down stairs without assistance. @ksglassman
@labtechleigh@wcdispatch Benedictine - the place my daughter would have gone to in Maryland - told me they cannot admit her because they cannot hire enough caretakers at the rate dictated by the state - they told me they would rather work at WalMart for more money (and an easier job)
@labtechleigh@wcdispatch In NY, workers would rather be paid significantly more for an easier warehouse job that requires less training: https://t.co/WR88Gt4O5i
@labtechleigh@wcdispatch@labtechleigh@wcdispatch meanwhile the most profoundly disabled who require GOOD institutions - like my daughter- cannot find care because these institutions cannot hire caretakers as the wages paid by states like New York (and my home state of Maryland) are not competitive
@SmPotatoes@SmPotatoes can we get this guy to go after all the non disabled people who use handicapped parking in Bethesda? As in every single time I go out to the point where I don’t even try to take my disabled kid out by myself on the weekend anymore?
“Thank you, @SecKennedy, for your leadership in adding Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Metachromatic Leukodystrophy to the Recommended Uniform Screening Panel. Every child deserves the healthiest possible start. Early detection brings earlier care, better outcomes, and more hope for families nationwide.” — Dr. Stephanie Haridpolos, Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor
sad to report that a day program for special needs adults in Manassas, VA, tells us they will close by end of the week. Here is our @NewsHour profile of them in January as they desperately tried to stay open in the face of federal budget cuts https://t.co/whRt4ejPYz
@ReadyMontgomery@MCDOTNow@311MC311@MontCoExec now that we know the new policy is only to clear one lane we’ll keep the handicapped van in her spot for the next storm. You could not help us but thankfully these teenagers could. If only we could get a $120 tax credit back.
@MDHealthDept@MDHealthDept what about the profoundly disabled kids like my daughter who are nonverbal and cannot independently complete any activities of daily living? Could we stop leaving them behind?
If you are digging her doctors out, can’t you help her access her spot? We receive zero assistance from the government to manage the life of our profoundly disabled child. In this extreme event, we are asking for assistance, or at least to borrow a plow.
@mkorman@MontCoExec@MCDOTNow@ReadyMontgomery@311MC311 just called to ask for help and was told by operator there is nothing you can do to help our profoundly disabled daughter access her handicapped parking space. That there are”doctors” who need help. Is this true?
We put in the formal service request yesterday as advised and were told someone would help. Called operator to provide more detail and she was adamant they could not help.
@MontgomeryCoMD@311MC311@MCDOTNow@MontCoExec@mkorman can we get the plows back out to clear a second lane on Grant St? Need access to disabled daughter’s handicapped space. Also her caretaker cannot drive here as there is no street parking without another lane.
@MontgomeryCoMD@311MC311@MCDOTNow@MontCoExec@mkorman can this be prioritized today? Still nothing after almost 24 hours: Service request number: 1611758239/Status: In Progress/SubStatus: Fulfillment at Department/Topic: Report Unplowed or Missed Street
@MontCoExec@MCDOTNow We are still waiting for them to finish plowing our street so we can access our disabled daughter’s handicapped space and parking for her caretaker.
