This past week we learned about local Anishinawbek leaders, our treaty relationships and how Indigenous laws were defined in wampum treaties. We created wampum treaties that defined our own personal & important relationships to others and the land. #edchat #ADSBlearns #onted

Today is International Transgender Day of Visibility where we celebrate transgender and non-binary people around the world. A day dedicated to raising awareness of the discrimination faced and a focus on celebrating contributions.

Last weekend my 2yr old and I sorted 3000 beads for our wampum treaties activity. We reinforced colours and counting. Next wk our grade 3s will design & make their own wampum treaties after learning about treaty relationships! #ADSBlearns #edchat #FirstNations

We ended the week with gooniikaa-ginebig ataadiiwin (snow snake game) that incorporated traditional knowledge, measurement, oral communication and physical education. Students built the track, their own snakes and cheered each other on to build camaraderie. #edchat #ADSBlearns

Yesterday we introduced gooniikaa ginebig ataadiiwin (snow snake game) to our students. Today they started the process of creating their own and building a track. We will name them, tell their stories and play a tourney by the end of this week. #traditionalgames #edchat
