@DissidentCorvid@dumbsushi@AL_J82 they are referred as such on the basis of their moral behavior not their ethnicity or skin color. the letter is a warning for us believers against wicked people, not an instruction to go around calling people slurs (Romans 12:21)
@DissidentCorvid@dumbsushi@AL_J82 just like in 2 Peter 2:22, the word “dogs” here is not used as racial slur but to describe people with moral characteristics that can be likened to one. paul was not being a racist, Philippians 3:2-3 is not a call to racism
@agusofpare@whpub the main Spirit of the prohibition in Acts 15:29 is to not cause others (jews in this case) to stumble by what we are doing or eating, and to keep ourselves pure from sexual immorality. these commandments doesn’t change with time
@agusofpare@whpub 1. are we going to go back and forth about this?
2. im not subscribed to the idea that anything regarding the word of God is fallible
@agusofpare@whpub 1. how so?
2. i believe that the canon was put together under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. we don’t need to fear missing out on certain doctrines since the Word is alive (Heb 4:12), so i cannot accept the condition that particular “what if”
@AN1Guitarman “Would you like to offer yourselves to God to accept all the sufferings which He may send to you in reparation for the countless sins by which He is offended and in supplication for the conversion of sinners? “
i don’t believe this remark would bring us closer to the real Christ
@agusofpare@whpub 1. but the scripture itself is infallible since its the word of God.
2. im having trouble trying to understand this. can you elaborate more?
@NandeBapakuKaro@aesculapiusw dan mereka yang telah berbuat baik akan keluar dan bangkit untuk hidup yang kekal, tetapi mereka yang telah berbuat jahat akan bangkit untuk dihukum (Yohanes 5:29)
@patristicpill it is very clear from 1 Cor 15:26 and Rev 20:14 that although Jesus has defeated death, death itself still hasn’t been eradicated. death is still a current reality, that’s why we eagerly await the resurrection at the last day (John 6:40).
@agusofpare@whpub 1. if this is about women’s head covering, a woman’s long hair is her own head covering (verse 15) the point of the verses is for women having a symbol of authority on their head.
2. how do we know if the canon list is fallible?
@PatelDwarma@LCSoapbox@patristicpill What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written, “That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged.”
Romans 3:3-4 ESV
@AlexanderSBowen@OpStCyprian@1_rat1 do you think that the existence of heresies and other religions besides Christianity is damning to its position as the one true faith?
@patristicpill Revelations 14:13, Ecclesiastes 9:6, 2 Peter 1:13-15, to name a few verses that contradict the idea that the dead are still interacting with the living
@patristicpill the scriptures doeen’t instruct us to pray to believers who have passed, and Ecc 9:6 along with Rev 14:13 tells us that the dead are now at rest. even apostle peter acknowledged the limitations that come from death (2 Peter 1:13)
