The largest non-partisan human rights organisation has condemned what it terms as the "potential for the  abuse of the contempt jurisdiction of the Court".

In UP's Hamirpur, a sub-inspector took lift from a truck driver. It is alleged that upon disembarking at a toll plaza, the sub-inspector proceeded to depart in his personal vehicle. The driver subsequently discovered that ₹20,000 were missing from his possession. The driver pursued the sub-inspector for approximately 13 kilometers and apprehended him.
