Press Release: National Unity Platform Launches Countrywide Tour in Mbale District
Mbale, Uganda - September 6, 2023 - President Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi embarked on a countrywide tour today in Mbale District. The wake up uganda tour aims to engage with Ugandans, mobilize support, and address critical issues affecting their regions and nation.
The day commenced with the opening of the NUP party office along the Mbale-Pallisa road. This office will serve as a hub for party activities and as a resource center for the local community.
Following the office opening, President Kyagulanyi, accompanied by NUP leaders, convened a mobilization meeting at the Busumaga primary school playground. During his address, the President emphasized the significance of Mbale region as one of the leading coffee producers in East Africa. However, he expressed concern over the current state of the Bugisu cooperative union, established in 1954, which now appears to be under the control of a single individual. President Kyagulanyi urged the people of Bugisu to reject any attempt to monopolize their livelihood. He drew parallels between this situation and Museveni's alleged plan to hand over the coffee industry to Enrica Pinetti, who is believed to be a front for the Museveni family. The President underscored that such actions threaten the rights and economic well-being of the people of Mbale and surrounding areas.
President Kyagulanyi further highlighted the pervasive issue of President Museveni's alleged control over various resources in Uganda. He drew attention to the state of hospitals, schools, and infrastructure, emphasizing the urgent need for improvement. He firmly stated that these resources belong to the people and should be managed in the best interests of all Ugandans.
President Kyagulanyi highlighted the names of the youth from Mbale who were abducted by the Museveni regime during the last presidential elections and are still missing. He expressed deep concern for their well-being and vowed to continue the fight for justice and their safe return.
The President made it clear that his presence in Mbale was not solely to seek votes, as the district had already demonstrated its support for NUP. Instead, he aimed to awaken the people to the power they hold as the true custodians of their destiny. He stressed that dictatorial rule cannot prevail when the people stand united and exercise their rights.
Drawing attention to the ongoing case at the International Criminal Court (ICC), President Kyagulanyi reiterated the importance of holding Museveni and his son, Muhoozi, accountable for their actions. He highlighted that Museveni's administration has benefited from external support in the form of guns, money, and planes, making it a puppet regime influenced by neocolonialism. He emphasized that Uganda's sovereignty should not be undermined, and the imposition of a monarchy-like succession should be rejected.
Addressing America and Europe, President Kyagulanyi conveyed the message that the Ugandan people do not seek external help for their liberation. Rather, they implored these nations to cease sponsoring the dictator and allow the people to determine their own destiny. He also extended a message to Zimbabwe and Gabon, emphasizing that power belongs to the people and that it is time for black Africans to reclaim their freedom.
President Kyagulanyi expressed concern about the oppressive conditions under Museveni's rule, which have turned Ugandans into slaves in their own country. He urged the youth to remain disciplined and resilient, cautioning against infiltration by hooligans planted by the Museveni regime.
The National Unity Platform is pleased to announce the next stop of its countrywide tour will be in Lira. Following the successful event in Mbale District, the NUP leadership will engage with Ugandans in Lira on Thursday, September 7th, 2023.
In Solidarity,
Dr. Daniel Kawuma
