@Benazir_Shah 9 billion rupees!
Old aircraft or new aircraft, that's a hell of a lot of cash. And the running costs...and it can land only in places with an airport. Helicopters are the best option.
Pashtuns have been among the most ill-fated people of the region. They were living relatively peacefully when, in the late 1970s, global powers, led by a superpower with the power to be in Pakistan decided to counter the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan by raising and supporting a force of Taliban and foreign fighters. The erstwhile Tribal Areas were turned into a launching pad, and militants were recruited from across the Muslim world. The Soviets were eventually driven out, but at a devastating cost: the peace and stability of the former NWFP and Tribal Areas were shattered. Decades later, the people of these areas are still paying the price through enormous human and material losses. Yet, despite bearing much of the suffering, they are still blamed for a conflict they did not create. The bitter truth is that Pashtuns were made the battleground for someone else’s war and then left to bear its consequences. They lost their homes, livelihoods, peace, and countless lives, while those who engineered the conflict moved on. The least they deserve is not blame, but justice, recognition, and an honest reckoning with history.
Pakistan's most urgent threats are not on its borders, they are inside its budget, its classroom, and its provinces. Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa need political settlements, not more security operations layered on old grievances. The economy needs structural reform, not another external credibility cycle spent without domestic investment behind it. And political polarisation needs de-escalation, because a state fighting itself cannot sustain the international role it has just earned. The policy options are not complicated. What has been missing is the will to choose them before the next crisis forces the choice anyway.
