The Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) hosted a seminar titled “𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲,” featuring Dr. Javed Ahmed Malik, Team Leader of the British Council’s ILMpact Programme. The session was moderated by Dr. Zulfiqar Ali (@Kalhorozulfiqar), Associate Professor at #PIDE.

The seminar highlighted the growing challenge of learning poverty in Pakistan and South Asia, emphasizing how weak foundational literacy and numeracy skills continue to limit educational and economic opportunities. Dr. Malik argued that the issue extends beyond classrooms, noting that institutional weaknesses and governance failures often hinder meaningful reform.

A key takeaway from the session was that overcoming learning poverty requires stronger institutions, sustained policy commitment, and inclusive reforms to ensure every child acquires the skills needed to progress in life.

A ceremony was held at the School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR) to award scholarships to 47 students of Quaid-i-Azam University under Phase III of the “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” Program. To celebrate the spirit of Marka-e-Haq, Quaid-i-Azam University organized a week-long series of activities highlighting patriotism, creativity, and resilience. The Department of English, with the support of the Quaidian English Society, held the “Marka-e-Haq: The Victorious Spirit of Pakistaniat” Painting & AI-Based Content Competition, where students expressed themes of truth, courage, and national pride through creative and AI-based works.

Arooj Ali secured first position, followed by Adnan Khan, while Ali Munaf, Ezza Mustufai, and Zonaib Fatima were also recognized for their contributions. The celebration reflected the national spirit associated with Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos and Pakistan’s resilience during the May 2025 conflict @zafar_jaspal
