Decentralized apps are a virtuous talking point, but largely a myth as they are designed today.
The chart below shows the current state of ethereum "dApps" and "defi", and areas where we excel and others where points of failure exist.

—App NFTs—
During the shift to mobile, everyone got smartphones, and applications had to build mobile versions to serve users on these new devices.
In crypto, a similar paradigm shift is happening, but the new device that’s proliferating is not hardware; it’s a crypto wallet.
I've published an article on @ThirdAcademy_'s blog!
It covers the main differences between Web2 and Web3 data analytics, and the challenges that arise for product and marketing teams.

A great addition to the decentralized web! Very similar to mallows byoa but some elements of trust on the ens domain versus the individual user, and portability defined by native Installation instead of wallet. Overall wonderful though! https://t.co/dkmINeoNr3

@twobitidiot There are already a lot of well maintained open source solutions. Each of them w/ valid ideas from p2p networks, to just posting to IPFS/Arweave & serving via ENS resolution. @mallowsxyz created a set of tools to run/own them using NFTs as trusted truth.

Survive and advance.
This is life at its root. In a few hours Ethereum will attempt the POS merge. It's a huge step forward and unlocks the door to many other protocol upgrades.
But, before it can advance, it must survive the merge.
After that, it's pandas all the way down.🐼
Dynamically composable layers of NFTs
A year ago, I published an essay on this idea in the @mallowsxyz discord (channel now private). Others independently invented and built out this idea. Yet, I'm happy to be involved on the research side.

Why current dApps are decentralized only in their back-end (leading to censorship risks), and how we can use
@web3byoa to build dApps that are truly decentralized and user-owned (and trusted).

@emilianobonassi@andy8052@js_horne This would be great if they could package all the apps into on chain metadata. Currently we utilize ipfs/arweave/etc as trusted immutable stores for variable size reasons. Love the idea!
"Who will control crypto?"
We can't forget why we're here. Crypto is as much movement as it is technology.
Build things that matter, build things with values. You have a choice!
Great article to be paired and read with your next cup of coffee.

@zhangmin0426 Mallows were intended as a fun toy example of "bring your own application" and debuted the initial version of the system. There are no set plans to extend their functionality for purity reasons. However, we will keep them in mind with ongoing ecosystem development.
