Today, the @IFRC was pleased to co-host the launch of the Anticipation Hub’s flagship report, “Anticipatory Action in 2025: A global overview.”
The task now is clear: make anticipatory action a standard function of governance, embedded in national systems, financing structures and political decision-making.
The message is simple: early warnings only save lives when they lead to early action.
This is at the heart of the Early Warnings for All initiative, where IFRC leads on Pillar 4: preparedness to respond to warnings. We must move from early warning systems to early warning and early action systems.
Excellent news. 136,000 people in Nuristan, Afghanistan – cut off for over two months – will receive life-saving supplies again. Good progress by @ICRC_af, @ARCSAfghanistan and @WFP_Afghanistan. Let’s build on this.
Over the weekend, our Emergency Action Team (EAT) in Old Fangak unit, Jonglei State helped community members evacuate to the higher ground after heavy rainfall broke the dyke causing flooding that affected households in the area.
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our Safety and Security Director Hisham Al-Hakimi. A dedicated member of Save the Children family, Hisham's commitment to our mission in Yemen will be forever remembered. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
Helping people in need is part of our self-image. The need has never been greater, as the number of people in need is constantly increasing 🌐. We do a lot (as the 2nd largest donor country of humanitarian aid). But as long as people need help, we can't sit back. #HumanitarianAid
