I'm going to OpenAI Dev Day! If the leaks are true, it'll be a pivotal moment for the AI consumer market:

OpenAI is becoming a full-blown UGC platform, where users can create and share any AI agents. It's a superset of RPA, Character AI, Plugin store, and much more. The marketplace will be selling BEHAVIORs instead of a software extension like Wolfram Alpha.

There will be tools to help any user quickly build and test agents in sandboxes, with access to plugins, browser, local files, and remote files (via GDrive/Microsoft connectors). The bot's behavior will be programmed not through SDK, but by simple iterative chats.

I find this particularly interesting, because it lowers the barrier significantly. Instead of coding or writing system prompts, you ask for and refine what you want through a dialogue. I suppose the agent can also ask follow-up and clarification questions as it's being "trained in-context". It's consistent with DALLE-3's intuitive interface, and similar to how we as humans onboard new employees.

Everything seems to move one step closer to @karpathy's vision of GPT as a new Operating System. "Agent Devs" will be a new career just like "iOS Devs" if the marketplace and revenue sharing model truly take off.

I'm eager to see how much of this rumor is true. Even if we don't get the full thing on Nov. 6, it's definitely how an AI consumer ecosystem should look like.
