Exactly this. How is it that the British Foreign Secretary has not managed to get even basic consular access to a British Citizen brutally imprisoned in Egypt for pro-Democracy writings after months of “raising the issue”? When does this get serious? #FreeAlaa#AspenSecurity
Shows that President Sisi CAN end Egypt's political prisoner crisis but that he thus far has chosen not to. These pardons are good news, but it is just the start. #FreeThemAll
It’s undeniable what a firm international stance can achieve in the file of Egyptian political prisoners. We receive the news of Patrick’s and Baker’s pardons with joy, yet demand an equally unwavering stance re the entire file.
Tens of thousands still languish behind bars.
Alaa Abd El-Fattah is a British citizen & democratic activist who is currently imprisoned by the Egyptian Government in awful conditions.
I asked the Foreign Secretary to commit to making a statement at the upcoming UN Human Rights Council session to condemn Alaa’s imprisonment.
This needs to change NOW!
The UK must prioritise human rights, rule of law, and the wellbeing of their citizens over the trade deals and meaningless "diplomatic" relations they have with a military dictatorship!

Today marks 10 years since the violent military coup in #Egypt.
One decade later, the country is experiencing one of the worst human rights crises in its modern history.
The US can & should use its leverage to demand real human rights progress from #Egypt#FreeThemAll
100+ MPs and Lords want to know why the @FCDOGovUK’s travel advice on #Egypt doesn’t mention that the UK is currently shockingly unable to guarantee consular access to British Citizens in #Egypt’s terrifying prisons & why Foreign Sec @JamesCleverly is taking it lying down #FreeAlaa
The Climate Justice March has started in London & the talk on the stage & in the crowd is of Climate Justice & solidarity with Egypt’s 60,000 political prisoners: the connection between Human Rights & Climate Justice. Amazing energy. #SaveAlaa#SaveThemAll#ClimateJustice
The crowd at Trafalgar Square is huge: it’s almost impossible to imagine we don’t know right now if @Alaa is alive or dead as @KhalidAbdalla reads his words: “All that’s asked of us is that we don’t stop fighting for what’s right”#FreeThemAll#ClimateJustice@RishiSunak
BARONESS BOYCOTT DEMANDS ACTION:
@RishiSunak is under huge pressure from the House of Lords to explain why he's failing to get proof of life & Consular Access to Alaa.
"I find it hard to believe we can't apply more pressure..He's a British citizen in serious trouble" #FreeAlaa
If pro-democracy activist & British-Egyptian citizen Alaa Abd el-Fattah is not released & consular access not granted, there should be "serious diplomatic consequences" for Egypt says @DavidLammy.
