Hello to my #lowVision & Blind friends out there! I'd like to start learning #Braille
Where do I start? are there flashcards I can get?
Other recommendations?

@ibdgirl76 The estimate of people with complex pain conditions who would or should be RX'd daily opioids is ~8%.
(OUD =<1%).
That's 28 MILLION pain pts in the US.
We are horrifically undertreating disabling pain.
It's incomprehensibly inhumane.
F* Mendell & ShatterProof.
Uncontrolled pain & resulting immobility put an incredible strain on the body. Treating pain and enabling patients to be more active isn’t just about physical comfort, it promotes health.

So if opioids don’t work for CNCP, then why give them for CNCP at end of life? How do they all of a sudden know to start working for the same pain that someone has had for 10 years just because they’re about to die? Do you guys hear how ridiculous you sound?
@mcmenamindebmd1@CDCgov@supportprop@DEAHQ We’ve lost so many innocent pain patients forced off meds.
Government’s attempt to stop addiction has only pushed medical and non medical users to suffer, hit the the streets or take their own lives.
You can recover from addiction.
But you can never recover from death.
And a note: when one mask is the only layer of protection, it has to be done perfectly (respirator, well-fitted, seal around the face maintained, etc), which is something that kids never should have had to do just to stay healthy. But no other layers means adults failed them
In a meeting:
“Oh so how many illnesses has your kid brought home already?”
“None so far. She wears a mask at school and some of the other kids wear masks and they have air filters in the classrooms.”
“Whoa really? I thought it was just inevitable.”
It’s not inevitable.
Hey #NYC if you are in an area that got flooded, please do what you are able, if anything, to keep yourself and your neighbors safe.
Our governor couldn't be bothered to declare a state of emergency before most people went to work or school today.
I hope you can get home safely.
“While Detective Songy's name is etched in the memorial as a line of duty death, three plus years later, his wife is denied the benefit of a line of duty death. She is unable to prove that he contracted COVID-19 on the job.” https://t.co/4SMZU4utMX
@Jaqsnack yeah wtf guy pretending to be blind and behaving in a way which no blind person would actually behave. This is insulting for so many reasons. THIS is what ppl think blind ppl actually do?! NOPE. this is GARBAGE content. We would never reach out to a stranger for help.
Now that the GOV is again giving out free rapid tests (https://t.co/Iqfh5TrnYt)
If you do turn Positive this fall/winter, your rapid test may tell you more about your status (at the time of testing) than you think!
How much time X how dark it gets
Here's how I think about it:
Went to the dentist today.
Asked in advance if staff could please wear n95's.
Asked what type of filtration their building uses.
Brought my own HEPA filter to the exam room.
Hopefully these measures were successful.
Dentists need more covid protections!
As a trafficking survivor, editors won’t let me report on human trafficking stories. As a result, I’m sitting on at least 3 big scoops that I can’t do anything with. One of these implicates what I’d consider the largest tech company in the world — and no, it’s not Amazon 👀
Reasons why I've never stopped wearing a mask, (an n 95, specifically).
1. covid can kill & spreading covid means being responsible for the deaths of others.
2. I don't want ANOTHER chronic illness.
3. I just don't want to get sick.
Disabled people aren’t interested in “conversations” with total strangers about our disabilities. The power dynamic of who gets to ask a question and who is expected to reply is rooted in ableism, racism, sexism
So DON’T #AskDontAssume
Another thing I miss about the early days is the critical Covid coverage. Media stopped reporting all the brutally honest stories about folks’ DRAMATIC post-Covid suffering for a reason. The media blackout is extremely strategic. Now we get copium and vaccine articles. That’s it.
Nailed it. They said “Would you look at that. It’s a golden opportunity to roll back workers’ rights decades, annihilate all the useless eaters, & bring back cheap child labor. Must be God’s Plan. Score!”
I feel such pangs of despair when I look back on the unity of 2020—most folks masking, caring about our neighbors, in it together, making PPE, honoring the dead—it was Us vs. The Virus. And then we were DELIBERATELY divided, traumatized, gaslit, & robbed of it all, for profit.
