Hon. @KirenRijiju you recently described the ongoing ethnic clashes in #Manipur as "unfortunate," dismissing them as just an “ethnic clash” and not a fight against the government. How can such devastation be reduced to this trivial label? For over 20 months since May 3rd, 2023, #Manipur has been caught in a civil war-like crisis, with +210 civilians killed, countless missing, and +60,000 displaced. The region has been turned into a battlefield with drones, bombs, and sophisticated weapons terrorizing its people daily.
Innocent #Meitei civilians, including an 8-month-old baby and toddlers as young as 2, were brutally murdered after being abducted from relief camps. Despite the deployment of over 60,000 additional central forces in one of #India’s most militarized states, the Chief Minister of the state cannot even move freely to manage the crisis.
Meanwhile, ten sitting ministers and MLAs from the #Kuki community in your ruling party have boycotted assembly sessions, demanding a separate administration and advocating for “Kukiland” or “Zalemngam.” How can leaders from the same party fail to come together to address the conflict? Why is there no meaningful dialogue, no resolution, and no accountability?
And now, we’re expected to see the @HMOIndia four-day stay in Manipur as a favor and not as duty and responsibility?
#Manipur is crying out for justice, peace, and safety. The unimaginable suffering of its people demands action, not hollow words like “unfortunate.” As one of the most respected leaders from Northeast India, what steps have you taken to end this prolonged conflict? The parading of 2 naked girls in Imphal happened on 4th May 2023 as part of a mob reaction to the sudden heatwave of the wildfire caused by the heinous attacks and burning down of complete Meitei villages across all the Kuki dominated areas. Almost the whole of the Meitei society condemned it, the angry people even burned down the houses of the main culprits, disowned by their villages and also punished under the rule of law.

One lesson we the Manipuris need to learn is the behaviour of the Congress party, almost all its heavyweight leaders were so vocal that the indifferent Kumbhakarna @narendramodi awoke! Has @ShashiTharoor or @SaralPatel uttered a word to condemn when children as young as 8 months old were bludgeoned to death, an 8 year girl was reportedly so brutally gang rapped that her little pelvic bones shattered, her eyes gouged out before bludgeoning to death? Why they are silent now? Is it a proof of the theory of @BJP4India that time that the leak was orchestrated by @INCIndia?

The whole of the opposition was so vocally outraged that many heavyweights from various fields such as @UnSubtleDesi @nabilajamal_ @Javedakhtarjadu @sharmasupriya all condemned and rightly so. But why all these righteous people are silent now?

Lesson: @INCIndia is not a lesser evil for Manipur.

Just to remind, @Bimol_Akoijam won MP election from inner Manipur not because he was a Congress candidate but because of who he ‘was’, better we remember this.
