As of September 2024, Public Sector Banks manage deposits exceeding ₹200 lakh crore, with NPAs at a 12-year low of 2.6% (RBI). Yet, staff shortages and rising workloads persist. A strong banking workforce means a stronger India.

Why does a sector that safeguards deposits, finances dreams, and ensures economic resilience face shrinking manpower & increasing pressure? When every other institution enjoys structured work-life balance, why are those managing trillions in public funds denied basic working conditions?

6-day workweeks, staff shortages & unrealistic performance reviews are eroding morale. A profession that demands utmost integrity & precision is being run on stress, targets & fear.

Public Sector Banks (PSBs) are the backbone of India's economy, serving 60%+ of banking customers. With ₹116 lakh crore+ in deposits & ₹92 lakh crore+ in advances, PSBs drive financial inclusion. Over 44 crore Jan Dhan accounts, ₹13.65 lakh crore in Mudra loans, & ₹27 lakh crore in agriculture credit—PSBs fuel national growth. Despite challenges, PSBs recovered ₹6.59 lakh crore in NPAs (FY15-23) and strengthened capital adequacy. Bankers work beyond duty, ensuring economic stability. Once again, a banker is assaulted—this time at @UnionBankTweets in Nawada, Bihar. Meanwhile, @FinMinIndia remains conspicuously silent, as if bank employees are expected to endure violence as part of the job. No protection, no action, just more headlines. Maybe it’s time to hand out helmets along with account opening forms? Or will a #bankersProtectionAct continue to gather dust? The economy can’t run without the people who safeguard it—when will their safety be prioritized?

What is happening to bank employees in this country? The government has failed its promises of #5DaysBanking, while bankers continue to face violent attacks from criminals who defy the law. Day by day, these attacks are rising, yet no action is taken!

How long will the government ignore those who safeguard the nation’s economy? Public Sector Bankers are not mere profit-making machines; they are the backbone of financial stability and last-mile inclusion. But instead of protection, they face stress, insecurity, and physical assaults!

It’s time to enact the #BankersProtectionAct and ensure their safety. The government must recognize that banks are not just businesses but pillars of social welfare, stabilizing the economy and empowering citizens. Protect bankers, fulfill commitments, and act against those who violate the law.

Enough of negligence! Ensure security, approve #5DaysBanking, and provide a dignified work environment. The "Ease of Doing Business" cannot come at the cost of bankers’ lives.

Dear policymakers,
why are bank employees taxed on perquisites as if they’re enjoying royal luxuries? ₹200 for petrol—TAXED! ₹250 for cleaning staff—TAXED! ₹1000 for leased accommodation—TAXED! While corporates enjoy tax-free perks worth crores, bank officers who work 24x7, handle public money, recover NPAs, and implement government schemes get unfair tax deductions!
Banks are the backbone of the economy, but our salaries are shrinking under unjust taxation. Should we manage the nation's finances and pay extra taxes just for doing our jobs? Is this fair?
Meanwhile, billionaires get tax exemptions, defaulters roam free, and NPAs keep rising—but yes, let’s keep taxing a banker’s ₹200 petrol allowance!
Next up: “Tax on Breathing for Bankers!” If you breathe in a branch—10% tax. If you sigh after a recovery call—20% surcharge! Because why not?

Thank you, Hon'ble Prime Minister, for recognizing the contributions of Public Sector Banks. While your words motivate us, today’s Budget has left us disappointed, as we were hoping for the much-needed #5DaysBanking.
Despite working tirelessly to serve citizens, even with staff shortages and growing challenges, Public Sector Bankers are still bound to a 6-day work week. Private banks enjoy a much higher employee-to-customer ratio, yet we continue to manage the bulk of India’s financial services. All we ask for is one day of rest to recharge, reduce stress, and improve productivity.
An agreement between the IBA and Banking Unions on 8th March 2024 had paved the way for #5DaysBanking to become a reality. Yet, today's Budget has left us with empty hands.
The nation needs well-rested bankers to build a thriving economy. We still hope for a future where our work is recognized through action, not just words.

मध्यवर्गीय कर्मचारी सालभर मेहनत करके 10-20 लाख रुपये कमाता है, लेकिन उसका आधा हिस्सा सरकार के टैक्स सिस्टम में चला जाता है। सोचिए, ज़िंदा रहते कमाई पर इनकम टैक्स, खरीदारी पर GST, सेविंग्स पर TDS, और मरने के बाद भी इनहेरिटेंस टैक्स जैसी औपचारिकताएँ।

मजाक देखिए, जो आदमी दिन-रात खून-पसीना बहाकर देश की अर्थव्यवस्था को चलाने में सबसे बड़ा योगदान देता है, वही सबसे ज्यादा टैक्स का बोझ उठाता है। सरकार के पास हर समस्या का हल है—एक नया टैक्स।

कहते हैं ‘विकसित भारत’ बन रहा है, लेकिन सवाल ये है कि क्या इस विकास का बोझ सिर्फ मध्यवर्गीय कर्मचारी ही उठाएगा? गरीब को सब्सिडी और अमीर को टैक्स रियायतें, और बीच में फंसा मध्यवर्ग—जो न रो सकता है, न हंस सकता है।

क्या यही न्याय है? क्या यही समानता है? टैक्स की इस अति से क्या हम अपने नागरिकों को तरक्की का सपना दिखा रहे हैं, या उन्हें सिस्टम से डरने पर मजबूर कर रहे हैं?

सोचिए, जिस देश में आम आदमी का जीवन इतना महंगा हो जाए कि उसकी आधी कमाई टैक्स में चली जाए, क्या उसे वाकई 'विकसित देश कहा जा सकता है?
