📁 85,007 physical files reviewed
🗑️ 48,070 files weeded out
💻 38,552 e-files closed
🏢 1.91 lakh sq. ft. office space freed
♻️ ₹21.08 lakh generated through scrap disposal
📩 99.90% public grievances disposed

@RailMinIndia a request from a solo woman traveller, increasingly women are choosing to travel alone. Just like metro trains and local trains, it would be a safer option to have one compartment for solo women travellers in long distance trains for overnight journey.

KEPA – Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Based Textbooks Developed by NCERT

In alignment with the National Education Policy 2020, NCERT has developed UDL-based accessible textbooks for Classes I and II.

The primary beneficiaries are Children with Special Needs (CWSN), including Divyang students, as well as children from Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs).

At present, all eight textbooks for Classes I and II have been converted into UDL-based accessible digital formats. These textbooks feature essential elements such as print-to-audio support through touch points, modified assignments, picture descriptions, QR codes linked to UDL-based Indian Sign Language (ISL) videos, exposure to Braille, vocabulary support, and conscious opportunities for socialization.

On 25th February 2026, the Faculty of West Bengal SCERT visited the Central Institute of Educational Technology at NCERT. During the interaction, sample kits for Classes I and II English medium were presented. CIET- NCERT Joint Director Prof. A. P. Behera and Prof. Bharti Kaushik elaborated on the features of the KEPA Kits.

Each kit contains three textbooks, a Smart Speak reader device, a charger, and headphones, all neatly packed in a handy box for students.

It is not just a set of textbooks, but a meaningful step toward breaking silos and advancing education with inclusivity and solidarity.
