Honoured to be starting my tenure as Homi Bhabha Fellow to research Vitamin D deficiencies in indigenous tribal populations of Maharashtra!

Appalling reaction from incharge Chairman, BoG, IISER Pune.
Umar Khalid has been in jail far too long, and now they are even banning his PhD thesis from academic campuses.
What are they afraid of?
Long Thread
This has not been easy to write. My stint at Newslaundry was one of the worst times of my life. I dreaded going to an office where so many times I would be the only woman working. Heck, the office I worked out of didn't even have a woman's washroom when I was there
"You are tired. You feel stretched to the point of breaking. The waves of emotions are rolling over you.
I am here, your future self, to tell you that you are enough. You don’t break. You put one foot in front of the other, and you not only make it through, but you have fun." https://t.co/5XsHfqNapx #ScienceWorkingLife
Rakhigarhi Update
The large scale ancient DNA extraction and library preparation is now underway. It’s exciting to see that the first DNA libraries are looking very promising. We are optimistic about the next steps and will continue to share updates as the project progresses.
🧬 Pleased to share our team's new paper published in #HumanGenetics: "Blending borders: reconstructing the genetic history of the Sindhi population." We present a high-resolution, genome-wide analysis of the demographic history and genomic architecture of the Sindhi diaspora. 🧵👇@bhupro@VCofficeBHU@GuDbfs540@ChanchalD1998

The partition of India in 1947 stands as one of the most devastating events in contemporary history, displacing millions and tearing apart communities. One such community deeply affected was the #Sindhis, who were forced to leave their homeland and became scattered throughout a newly independent India! #SindhiDiaspora
Read this commentary by @doctorveera on the recent paper by @aliakbari23 and their team. Additionally, I would like to mention the role of the so-called 'conserved regions' in all of this. Archaic haplotypes have been conserved for reasons we have yet to discover. #selection
Genome India Project is out. 59 of 83 populations show higher inbreeding than Ashkenazi Jew- signals that we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg; scaling this to over 4,900 communities has the power to fundamentally redefine global clinical genetics.
