The functioning of the Punjab Assembly has been reduced to a process where, whether it is the sacrilege-related Bill or any other legislation, Bills are not made public weeks in advance for MLAs and people to study. Instead, they are handed over on the very day of the session, leaving little or no time to read, understand, or consult experts.

@SpeakerSandhwan often pushes Bills through in haste without adequate discussion, while @AamAadmiParty MLAs appear to simply endorse directions coming from Delhi.

This approach to lawmaking and legislative functioning is not healthy for Punjab’s democracy.

ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮ ਵਰਗ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਵਾਅਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅਧੂਰੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਾਸ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਰਜ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਛੇਵਾਂ ਪੇਅ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਲੰਮੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਕੱਚੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਊਟਸੋਰਸ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਬਣਨ 'ਤੇ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਹੱਕੀ ਮੰਗਾਂ ਲਈ ਟੈਂਕੀਆਂ 'ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੀ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ ਬਾਹਰ ਪੱਕੇ ਧਰਨੇ ਲਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਹਨ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੀਟਿੰਗਾਂ ਰੱਦ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਖ਼ਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਵੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਭਾਰੀ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੀ ਵਿਗੜਦੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਵਿਵਸਥਾ, ਖਜ਼ਾਨੇ 'ਤੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਵੱਧ ਰਹੇ ਕਰਜ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਬੋਝ, ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੀ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ (ਚਿੱਟੇ) ਦੇ ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਰਗੇ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ 'ਤੇ ਵੀ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਤਿੱਖੇ ਸਵਾਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਬਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਚੋਣ ਵਾਅਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ 'ਤੇ ਉਤਾਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਕਾਮ ਸਾਬਤ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਅੱਜ 16 ਜੂਨ ਸਵੇਰੇ 10:10 ਵਜੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਸਰ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਟੀਮ ਆ ਗਈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਸਰ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਮ ਅਰੈਸਟ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਕੋਈ ਦੋ ਘੰਟੇ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਉਹ ਬੈਠੇ ਰਹੇ। ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਸਰ ਦੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਡੀ.ਐਸ.ਪੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਗਈ। ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਸਰ ਵਲੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਲਿਪ ਡਿਸਕ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਬਲਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਲਿਖਤੀ ਸਪਸ਼ਟੀਕਰਨ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ। ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਸਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਈਨ ਕਰਾਵਾ ਲਏ ਗਏ। ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਕੋਈ 12:15 ਵਜੇ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।
