RAMA MWITASON : une voix culte s’éteint à Bujumbura!!!

Ce soir, Bujumbura pleure l’un de ses plus illustres animateurs. RAMA MWITASON s’est éteint en fin de journée, laissant derrière lui un héritage radiophonique inoubliable. Pour nous qui avons grandi à Bujumbura, mais aussi pour de nombreux Zaïrois/Congolais d’Uvira et de Bukavu, il était bien plus qu’une simple voix à la radio.... il était une figure incontournable de notre enfance et de notre jeunesse.

Dans les années 80 et 90, alors que l’information était rare, qu’Internet et la téléphonie mobile n’existaient pas encore, RAMA MWITASON était une véritable fenêtre sur le monde. Animateur culte de la section Kiswahili de la Radio-Télévision Nationale du Burundi (RTNB), il captivait les auditeurs avec son style unique, ses anecdotes et sa manière inimitable de raconter l’actualité. Il a fait ses débuts à la RTNC en 1970.

L’année dernière, mon frère aîné, Dr Mozart, de passage à Bujumbura, avait organisé une rencontre mémorable à la maison. Il avait convié RAMA MWITASON ainsi que d’autres figures emblématiques de la RTNB des années 80-90, pour se remémorer les beaux jours de la radio d’antan. Étaient aussi présents à la maison ce jour-là RASHID ALFRED (84 ans, il a fait ses débuts à la RTNB en 1973) et FATUMA FIDESI (elle a fait ses débuts à la RTNB en 1979). Ce fut un moment de retrouvailles, d’histoires partagées, d’émotions… et sans le savoir, ce fut aussi la dernière occasion de revoir cet homme qui a tant marqué nos ondes et nos vies.

Aujourd’hui, cette voix qui a bercé tant de foyers s’est tue à jamais. RAMA MWITASON sera inhumé demain à Bujumbura. Son souvenir restera gravé dans la mémoire de tous ceux qui, un jour, ont eu le bonheur de l’écouter. Que la terre lui soit légère.
