I am personally shocked and deeply disappointed by the arrest of Sharmistha Panoli. But more than just the arrest, it’s the glaring questions and double standards that should concern every thinking Indian.

To begin with—how exactly did the Kolkata Police manage to enter Delhi, a BJP-ruled state, and arrest her without the Delhi Police even noticing? Or should we assume—that the Delhi Police were simply unaware of this cross-border operation unfolding right under their noses? Or worse, did they quietly assist in handing over a nationalist voice to the very forces working to suppress such voices?

And then comes the next shocker: how did a Delhi Magistrate so smoothly approve a transit remand for her to be taken all the way to West Bengal? Was any scrutiny applied? Or is the system now so compromised that even courts are falling in line to aid political witch-hunts?

The larger question is even more disturbing: why is it that self-proclaimed comedians like Kunal Kamra, propagandists like Mohammed Zubair, and others who openly deride national values roam freely—even in BJP-ruled states? These states claim to uphold nationalism, yet their inaction in curbing genuine offenders speaks volumes.

This isn’t just hypocrisy—it’s betrayal.

When BJP-ruled governments fail to protect those who stand up for the nation, who raise their voices for its culture, its pride, its integrity—what message does that send to millions of nationalists across India? That if you speak the truth or take a stand, you’ll be abandoned? That if you’re targeted by opposition-led states, no one will shield you—not even the government you supported?

It’s clear now: there is a disturbing policy of silence, complicity, or cowardice when it comes to protecting nationalists. Those who love the country, who stand for its values beyond party lines, are being thrown under the bus—with the quiet consent of the very governments they trusted.

This is not just worrying—it is outrageous. And if this continues, the very idea of nationalism will be left orphaned in its own land.
