@FrancoisDagnaud
Pleased to see @USCleanPower engage in the debate about what constitutes “clean” hydrogen but it’s disappointing to see them recommend allowing annual clean energy matching through 2042. Using annual matching instead of hourly will lead to huge increases in CO2 for decades. (1/)
Europeans need to ensure the environmental integrity of renewable hydrogen, in order to help decarbonize the continent's economies. https://t.co/2bZ77ErbsG
Exciting new energy modeling research results from @nworbmot and his colleagues at Technical University Berlin on system-level impacts of hourly carbon-free electricity matching ("24/7").
🚨 New 24/7 report for Europe! 🚨
Companies moving from *annual* to *hourly* clean power matching get:
- lower emissions for them *and* system
- reduced backup needs for system
- only small cost premium for 90-95% hourly matching
- stimulation of new tech for final 5-10%

This is the single best energy interview I have listened to in years. It breaks down why decarbonization is so important, what it will take and how to think about the global political context in which this transformation needs to happen.
Wondering what decarbonization really means for stopping #climate change? Listen as @JesseJenkins explains to @EzraKlein how to #decarbonize the world and how the Inflation Reduction Act helps put us on the right path. https://t.co/KJ7qeIuYvh
Un panel d'experts pour comprendre la crise énergétique que nous traversons en Europe, des risques pour les industriels et des leviers pour y faire face. Merci à Confrontations Europe pour l'invitation à cette discussion importante. https://t.co/BXMRJy9k8D
So much for today. If you liked this thread and think it might be useful for others to learn about this topic, consider retweeting the first tweet. Thanks a lot for your interest! 🙏

24/7 carbon-free energy comes one step closer with @energy_tag's freshly published #GranularCertificate guidelines & standards.
These will improve energy traceability, enable consumer choice and unlock new market models for #RES

@corradio Both concepts (additionality, avoided CO2e) would help bring more transparency to the GO/REC market. I would favor starting with the simplest (additionality labeling, for e.g. does the underlying plant any receive gvt subsidies?) and then work on the latter.
